Show and Tell

Kelli at There’s No Place Like Home hosts “Show and Tell Friday” asking Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there’s a story behind your special something, that’s even better! If you would like to join in, all you have to do is post your “Show and Tell” on your blog, copy the post link, come over here and add it to Mr. Linky. Guidelines are here.

I wanted to show you a couple of sweet items found on sale at Forget Me Not Dreams on a Pink Friday sponsored by the shops at Make Mine Pink (which actually does have more than pink items. 🙂 )

Hot pads

I just LOVED these pot holders — I rarely see anything in pink for the kitchen in local shops. I didn’t realize how big they were when I ordered them, though — maybe 8 or 10 inches on each side.

Wall pocket

I loved everything about this wall pocket, too — the color, the design, the heart shape. I was thinking it was too bad I’d have to wait til spring to use it on my front door, but, I don’t know — it might look ok with fall decorations in it. What do you think?

I have to say, I totally love Pink Fridays at Make Mine Pink (and no, I am not paid nor asked to say that!) We don’t have shops like this in town, and it’s like visiting a nice sidewalk sale without having to leave home.

I also wanted to show my current work in progress:

WIP

It’s coming along! I am not finished back-stitching the scissors, but this shows how the back-stitching really defines specific areas:

I’m off to visit with other Show and Tellers at Kelli’s.

  1. Those are beautiful items and I think fall decorations will look beautiful in that hanger. The neddlework is beautiful. I love the colours you have used.
I had never seen pink potholders too and I think they are great.
Thank you so much for sharing and have a wonderful weekend !!

  2. Your cross stitch is coming along nicely. I made a not of the shop you mentioned. I prefer shopping on line most of the time anyway because one need not find time to get out and we can do it whenever we want. Some have mentioned the shipping added on to the price of online sales but hey, with gas the price it is, shipping may be cheaper and one doesn’t always find that certain something at the first stop.
Yesterday, I ordered some items from Wild Birds Unlimited. There is a store in Huntsville but it is in the downtown area which is over 30 minutes away from me. This was much easier.
I think you can use the flower cone in any season. It would look lovely with sunflowers and Autumn leaves.

  3. What a lovely show & tell. The potholders are so pretty. I think you should put autumn flowers/foliage in the wall pocket and use it now. And your cross stitch is coming along very nicely. It will be lovely when it’s finished.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for stopping by my show and tell.

  4. I’m a bit behind on posting my comments so your Show & Tell entry was a little down the first page of your blog. I read the entries you’ve posted since then – thanks for the review of Lori Wick’s “Jessie” – I love Lori Wick – and for the beautiful Grandmother’s Beatitudes – they brought tears to my eyes. As a history major, I feel it is to important to talk with the older generation about their lives – that’s history that could be lost if no-one takes the time to stop and chat. And you may never know how much those few hours will brighten someone’s day.

As for your Show & Tell – lovely! Your cross stitch piece is going to be beautiful. I used to cross stitch quite a bit – gifts for my Mom mostly. After she passed away, I just can’t seem to get as much joy out of it as I used to. My daughter enjoys cross stitching, however, and currently has several gift projects she is working on. I love to see her enjoying the art.

    Have a great week.
