Friday’s Fave Five

FFF fall backgroundIt’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and other friends.

Here are some of my favorite parts of the week:

1. A good report. I mentioned last week that a routine colonoscopy showed everything was fine except for one little polyp which was removed and looked to be benign. I got the official word back this week that it was indeed benign and I don’t have to deal with colonoscopies for another 10 years. Yay!

2. Oven meals. I think I say that every year about this time. πŸ™‚ I don’t use the oven much at all during warmer weather, because the AC just can’t keep up. So adding some of those meals that take 45-60 minutes in the oven revives the meal-planning a bit, and I enjoy popping something in and then having an hour or so to do something else.

3. Pumpkin carving night. Jason and Mittu made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, and then we carved our pumpkins.

Pumpkins

And spending time with this little punkin is always a fave. πŸ™‚

He got a good report from the physical therapist this week that he is right on target in his development.

4. My dear husband has been on a roll the last couple of weeks. I neglected to mention last week how much I appreciated his taking care of the rest of the household while I was out of commission preparing for the colonoscopy. During his day off he caulked the area between the kitchen counters and backsplash and last weekend he painted a door and cleaned our bathroom. We have very hard water in our area and I had been scrubbing at some spots to no avail, but he got them with Magic Eraser and Lime-Away (and I am sure more elbow grease than I have πŸ™‚ ). I don’t think our bathroom has looked this good since we moved in. He works so long and hard, I hate for him to have tasks to do at home as well, but I so appreciate them – and him!

5. The end of the 31 days writing challenge. It has been enjoyable, but it also took more time and work than I’d thought it would. It will be nice not to feel like I *have* to post every day. πŸ™‚ The 31 Dayers Facebook group added a lot to the enjoyment. I wish I could have kept up with several of the posters there – but there is only so much time in the day to read blogs, even though they contain good stuff. But I did enjoy what I did have time to read.

Happy Friday!

  1. Barbara, your husband sounds like a keeper…just like mine. It always blesses me that he looks for ways to help.

I can’t believe how big your “little guy” is already! He’s such a cute little guy. Makes me want to reach right through the monitor and give him a hug.

I’ll miss reading all of those wonderful Christian biographies you’ve shared about here the month of October! They were my “vacation” each day. πŸ˜‰

Have a wonderful weekend…especially knowing that the polyp was benign.

  2. Dear Barbara,
One of my top fav’s this week has been thankfulness for you! I’m sure it took a lot of your time and energy to share with us all these godly examples. I just wish you could know how encouraging and helpful these posts have been in my life. Not only these series, but it is so nice to get some real, biblical truths from your writings. The blog world is in no shortage of “feel good”, pretty ” stuff”….posts to tickle itching ears. I really appreciate you and some others who give real meat to help us grow and encourages conviction in our walk with the Lord. I pray you have a wonderful weekend and be blessed.

  3. Yay for good reports and not having to repeat THAT for 10 years!! And yeah for husband doing all those chores…..i myself love those magic erasers and lime away! (we have hard water as well). I’ve enjoyed reading some of your posts even though i haven’t had time to comment on every one. Happy weekend and enjoy that little punkin πŸ™‚

  4. I’m so glad that the results came back great! What a relief. Your hubby sounds like a wonderful helper around the home. Mine is the same and it’s a real blessing. Sometimes he hates being “Mr. Fix it” but I consider him a real gift. What a cutie patootie that wonderful babe is. Rejoicing with you at the good news from the physical therapist!

  5. Hi Barbara. Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m glad your colonoscopy study came back with good results. A great relief, I’m sure. I have hard water issues as well and have used Magic Eraser with poor results. I had forgotten about Lime-Away so I’ll try that. Hope you have a great weekend.

  6. Hi Barbara ~ Happy to meet you. Thanks for visiting and commenting at my blog. Glad you had a nice week. I will be back to visit again soon! Enjoy the week ahead.

  7. Your writing challenge reminds me of NaNoWriMo. I didn’t last. I’m glad you no longer have to deal with colonoscopies for another 10 years! What a relief! Is that Jason and Mittu’s baby? Such a cutie. I love grilled cheese sandwich!

  8. 10 years? Sweet. πŸ™‚ I had malignant polyps on my first colonoscopy so had to have another colonoscopy that year, one more the next year, then every 2 years for awhile. Yuck. [cue the violin music for me, ha] But I’m just thankful that they caught it! I can live with frequent colonoscopies much easier than with colon cancer….

Little Timothy is growing so much. He’s adorable.

I’m kinda glad the 31 Days challenge is behind us too. I like it, but I feel like I neglect visiting around other blogs because I’m too focused on getting another post out on my own.

  9. Your 31 days of biographies is going to be a great resource, Barbara. It was a huge effort! Those look like fun pumpkins, but everyone’s favorite must be that one with pinchable cheeks.

  10. Wow, your hubby is a really great guy! I have hard water–I will have to try Magic Eraser and Lime Away and maybe hubby elbow grease πŸ™‚

I’m glad your tests all came back ok. It’s a relief, isn’t it?

    Cute pumpkins! And cute boy!
