Works-For-Me Wednesday: Autumn mini cookie cutters

wfmwheader_4.jpgI found these cute little cookie cutters at W*l-Mart yesterday for just a few dollars. We’re not really into sugar cookies much, though I can picture these with cinnamon and red, yellow, and orange colored sprinkled sugar. But I thought they’d be neat for cutting decorative venting holes for pie crusts.

Maybe they’ve been around for ages, but I just discovered them.

Michael’s had them, too, and though I don’t remember the prices I think they were a little more there. But then Michael’s usually has a 40% off coupon in Sunday’s paper.

As always on Wednesdays, you can find scores of great tips at Rocks In My Dryer.

  1. Those are too cute! I have the Noah’s Ark set that they make (mini’s too) and I use them to cut shapes in my sons cheese for school. There are so many uses for those cute little things.

  2. Thisi san awesome idea. I love baking pie and always hand cut or mold shapes for the top–I have an entire set of Noah’s ark mini cutters. I think our next pie will use them.

  3. I have these! I actually got them at a garage sale. You know what else you can do with them? If you make a one-crust pie, like pumpkin, cut shapes from your leftover dough and put them around the edge. It looks really cute!

  4. I use mine to cut DD’s sandwich for her lunch. She is 3 and it makes pieces just the right size.

I got mine at Hobby Lobby- 3 for $1

  5. I never would have thought of that, and it’s a really great idea to use them for pies. I have so many little cookie cutters (actually I just have so many cookie cutters) that I never have figured out what I’d use my tiny ones for. Thanks for sharing your idea!

  6. When you said, “…venting holes” the first thing I thought of was pumpkins. Might be tough to manage, but wouldn’t a pumpkin be cute with all those little leaves around it? Hmmm…. There might be a way.
