Writing

I’ve been blogging here since 2006. Before that, I wrote fifteen years’ worth of ladies’ booklets for two different churches.

Once during an open discussion about devotional time in God’s Word in a ladies’ meeting, nearly every lady who shared described some measure of dissatisfaction. Some had trouble maintaining a regular practice. Some had read for years, but felt they were in a rut. Afterward, I started a column in the ladies’ booklet to discuss various aspects of finding time for and getting more from the Bible.

After several years of such columns, I began thinking of compiling them into a book. I quickly found that I could not just cut and paste all of the columns. Some overlapped. Some information needed to be updated or added.

Last year I complete the first draft of the book (tentatively titled Knowing God Through His Word). I hope to finish revising it this year.

In the meantime, I was a community guest columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel from October 2011-October 2012. I’ve had a few magazine articles published in Frontline magazine as well as some publications that are no longer in business. I’ve contributed to The Perennial Gen, Blessed But Stressed, iBelieve.com, and Christian Devotions. I wrote more about my writing journey here.

I have a few ideas for other books. I’m looking forward to exploring them after I finish this current project.

As I near then end of my book, I face many decisions concerning finding an agent and  pursuing the best path for publication. I want to go the traditional route for this first book. I appreciate your prayers for God’s guidance.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! Some of you have been reading here for many years. Some are new friends. I look forward to getting to know you better. Some of us will probably never meet til heaven. You’ve blessed my life in more ways than I can tell.
