Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts a “Friday Fave Five” in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Click on the button to read more of the details.

My favorites from this week:

1. Getting past the halfway point in the unabridged Les Miserables! I am on page 769 of this 1,463 page book.

2. My husband’s grilling. We love everything he grills. Sunday he made his special chicken teriyaki (I don’t have a recipe — I don’t know what all he puts in it or in what increments.)

3. KFC’s Mashed Potato Bowls — mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, popcorn chicken, and grated cheese all in one bowl. I know, I know, they’re probably not the healthiest thing on the planet.

4. Pockets of solitude. I seem to need a certain amount of quiet time alone to think and regroup, and God seems to orchestrate those just when I most need them.

5. Getting the theme and speaker set for the upcoming ladies’ luncheon. That is a huge relief and sets the direction for everything else. I am excited! More details later…

Happy Friday!

  1. Sounds like a great week. I’ve not heard of those mashed potato bowls, but they’re going on my list of new experiences I must have!

How nice to have some pockets of solitude. I hope God sends me some soon.

  2. Good for you for reading Les Mis. . .I have always thought about doing it, but never have.

Never tried the mashed potato bowls either, but I love all things potato.

    Sounds like a good week.

  3. Good Friday to you, Barbara…..wonderful list of faves and I am thankful for those pockets of solitude, too. Have a blessed weekend!

  4. Oh I love Les Mis! But I’ve only read the abridged version, good for you! I should check out the mashed potato bowls, that’s a new one to me!

  5. It must be warm in your area as Hubby is grilling in a short sleeve shirt. We haven’t moved our grill to the new house yet. We have had that grill for a long time, more than 15 years and it has been moved many times. We bought a display item at the end of the season. It has been a good one but we’re considering replacing it.

I have never heard of the KFC bowls. I usually just order a white meat dinner. I know they’re full of fat, but like you, once in a while I get a craving for it.

Time alone is very important but one can have too much of it.
    Have a super weekend,

  6. A great week indeed!! That potato mash recipe looks delicious, and I’m counting the days until we can eat outside and grill some food on the barbecue as well!

  7. I love it when my husband grills! He uses his secret ingredients and everything tastes fantastic. And I don’t have to cook 🙂

  8. I love it when my hubby grills out. It’s still too cold here in the heartland of America, but it won’t be long!

Loved your list, and I totally understand how much better you feel after securing a speaker for your luncheon.

    God bless!

  9. Those mashed potato bowls bring back memories. My daughter who loves KFC…got one and had a stomach flu…..didnt know she had the flu at the time…and got sick on the bowl…..she cant even look at KFC now….and I hate it for her…because she loved their fried chicken sooooo.

I love it when hubby grills too…it helps me out.

  10. Mmmm, you’ve got me thinking grilling. Unfortunately it’s still a bit cold to grill here, although, there are some die hards that do grill all year. Not me, though. LOL.

I’ve seen those KFC bowls but have never had one. Good for you for still sticking with that loooong book.

  11. Ohhhh! Did you get that woman you were talking about? I can’t wait to hear!

KFC Chicken Bowls? I never heard of them! But I’m not crazy about the popcorn chicken – so I probably would not try them!

I DO agree that everything tastes better on the grill – and my hubby grills ALL winter long! He really doesn’t care how cold it is – or even if it’s raining! LOL!

I need a LOT of solitude … I get some… but certainly not as much as I used to — and it really plays on me.

  12. Grilling and comfort food in a cup and some solitary moments. Sounds like the perfect week :0)
