Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts a “Friday Fave Five” in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Click on the button to read more of the details, and you can visit Susanne to see the list of others’ favorites or to join in.

My favorites from the past week or so:

1. Easter! We were out of town and attended a wonderful church service, and then we traveled home, missing our usual Easter festivities. But my son and daughter-in-law surprised us with an Easter dinner and goodies when we got home. I wrote more about it earlier here.

2. Rain. I mentioned yesterday I was hoping it would rain and wash some (actually a lot!) of the pollen away, and it did! Plus the rain cooled things off considerably.

3. Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits! Had one just this morning.

4. Friends who pray. I had a personal prayer request which I could not make public, but contacted just a few friends about it. Their responses and their faithfulness to pray were such a blessing to me.

5. An impromptu family night. We wanted something a little different for dinner last night, so we went out to a little local Italian place, and called Jason and Mittu to see if they had eaten yet and wanted to come. They came, and they had been planning to return the DVD they had rented of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs after dinner, but they brought it by the house and watched it with us first. Fun times!

Bonus:

I don’t usually go into TV shows much here, but this past week’s episode of Lost was one of my favorites, both because we got a little crack in the door understanding of what might be going on, but especially because the episode centered on Desmond, one of my favorites. And we got to see Daniel again! (Lost fans will understand. 🙂  ) Though I think it is right for the show to be coming to a definite end — dragging it out would kill it — I am really going to miss it when it is done!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. You had some great unexpected moments this week. That is always so nice. I’m glad you had fun times with your family. Praying friends are a blessing. Enjoy your weekend Barbara.

  2. I really think that mention of the chick fil a was a cruel, cruel joke! As a result, I’m not sure I can wish you a happy weekend. 😉

Your impromptu family night sounds fun though! =)

Oh, ok, ok, ok….hope you have a great weekend.

  3. What a great week you had, Barbara. It’s such a blessing to have friends in whom one can confide, isn’t it? It’s nice to see that you had some fun family times too… 🙂

  4. What a great FFF my friend. The impromptu Family night sounded real fun. I enjoyed this week’s LOST as well. They have made it so hard to follow the last couple of years. I’m ready for it to end 🙂 Have a great Friday 🙂

  5. WE got the rain last night too — and it is waaaay cooler today – almost chilly! Very windy! And I do believe most of the pollen is gone… but it’s going to take me a few days to recover. My allergy cold is lodged in my throat and sinuses…. ugh! But I am SO grateful for that rain! SO grateful!

I remember reading that book to my kids when they were little – Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs! How in the world did they make THAT into a MOVIE? LOL! I bet it was cute though!

  6. I’ve never had the Chick Fil-A chicken biscuits, I’ll have to try one while I am here in Florida.

Sounds like a good week with a spontaneous movie night, how fun!

  7. Impromptu family nights are the best!

I totally love Chick-Fil-A. There are none where I live, so I have to get my fix whenever I travel…

  8. Your impromptu family night sounded like fun! How nice to have family close enough to do that. I’m afraid my boys will be spread all across the US in the future…!

One of my boys watches Lost, and he has enjoyed it lately, too. Almost makes me wish I had gotten in on it.

(I think I got the chicken pot pie recipe from you, and made it last night. It was a hit!!)

    Happy weekend!

  9. OK! HUGE Lost fan here! Love Desmond!

Love Chick-Fil-A biscuits. In fact all of your favorite this week would make it to my list as well!

I have not done Friday Fav Five in a while so I am getting round to lots of new blogs. Very cool!

    Blessings
    R

  10. I must be the only one on the planet not watching Lost. I’m going have start renting the different seasons!

The spontaneous family night sounds so fun. I love when those happen.

  11. I was thankful we got a little rain, too, to wash away the pollen. Everything is yellow around here. Wish I had one of those biscuits! I love them. Having friends who pray for you is the best!

  12. The family night sounds great! Also that they took the trouble to make an Easter celebration for you.

Friends that actually pray when asked are a rare and precious treasure.

So was the movie worth watching?

  13. Susanne….I haven’t been watching Lost either, so you are not alone. My son and DIL have all the seasons, though, so I could watch them if I wanted to. I’ve been tempted, I must say.

  14. Oh, Lost is ending? I watch entire seasons on DVD. Impromptu family gatherings could be fun. I enjoy those, especially around movies and food. Have a great week ahead.

  15. You are the 3rd person to mention Chic-Fil-A this week. I have never been to one. Send me a sample?

Our Easter was pretty special, too. I am very much liking the worship services in our new church home.

  16. I seldom eat fast food, but I do like Chick fil A–my sil and bil actually drive out here to my community (60 miles) to eat there! Your impromptu gatherings with your son and dil are so precious! Lucky you to have them living so close.

    Have a great weekend!

  17. I have heard so many people mention Chick Fil A food lately! We do not have one near us, I will have to check it out somewhere, sometime! 🙂 Love the impromptu family night, sometimes that is the most fun when it “just happens.”
