There are a number of things I could mention this week, but I’ll go with these:
1. The first week of summer vacation! I have loved not setting alarm clocks!
2. Feeling better. Jesse had an awful cold last weekend and then I caught it and was pretty miserable Monday and some of Tuesday. Thankfully I am feeling much better now.
3. Chicken Chimichangas from one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. Tuesday night Jim was away and I gave myself permission to get dinner out, but I didn’t feel like going out, so we got take-out and had enough to for lunch the next day, too.
4. This funny video on The History of the Book from The Wall Street Journal at Robin Lee Hatcher‘s site. I couldn’t get the video to embed here, so I’ll just refer you there.
5. This video of Andrea Bocelli’s mother’s decision not to take the advice of a physician and have an abortion when he thought her child might have a disability. I had never heard this story before. Andrea is such a gift to the world: what testament that a disability is no reason to abort a child. And how sad to think of all the people with their various individual gifts who are not able to share them with the world due to abortion.

I loved that video on the history of books. 🙂 Was excellent 🙂 Glad you are feeling better and any Mexican food I like. Food you say…I love it all..well except as you know liver and eggs LOL. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Hi Barbara! I’ll have to watch these videos the next time I am at the library! I loooove Andrea Bocelli, especially when he sings The Prayer. Oh my.
So glad you are feeling better and enjoying sleeping in now that school is out!
Oh, and I love your new blog look. It’s so organized and neat! 🙂 Two of my favorite things. Argh! LOL
Neat history of the book. I DO love my Kindle and I love my books, too. Enjoy those alarm-free mornings now that you can sleep in.
wow I had no idea that A.B. had that story about his life!! thanks for posting it!!! LOVE his voice!!
Great fave five list!!
I am SO glad you shared that last film! I LOOOOOVE that!!! I have a similar story to share – about birthing Amanda! I was a single mom in 1976 (shortly after Roe v. Wade) and absolutely EVERYONE thought I should have an abortion! I would have NONE of it and of course protected her with my life! How would I have ever managed without THAT child in my life??? And I would have no Luz either??? I LOVE to hear about people that were NOT aborted!
It’s SO good to see you again!!! And 3 CHEERS for Summer vacation!!!
I love chicken chimichangas too, I have not had one for a while.
For some reason the clip would not load for me, I’ll have to check back later, I really want to see that.
Loved the history of the book. I saw Andrea’s video elsewhere and enjoyed it, too. I am glad you are feeling better. We have been snottin’ n’ blowin’ here and Amoeba missed five days of work, although not consecutively. (If he’d have stayed home when I told him to he mightn’t have had the relapse!)
I did NOT realize that about Bocelli and his mother! Thanks for pointing that video out!
I’m running late this weekend, but wanted to chime in anyway! (Busy week here!!)
Wow — that video from Andrea Bocelli is awesome.
I think we’re passing around the same cold here… Love your new blog look! Wow!
Have a great week, Barbara.
The story of Andre B. is amazing. I’ve never heard that before.
We have about another week of school and then finals and they are done. Unfortunately my alarm is still set because of work but the kids will have some sleep time.
I loved the video of Andrea Bocelli – I didn’t know that his mother had been encouraged to abort him. What a blessing that she didn’t listen to “reason” and kept her baby!
