Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday’s Fave Five so we can share our favorite things from the last week. Here are five favorite things from this past week:

1. Celebrating the birthday of my oldest son, Jeremy, last Saturday:

This was a “get Jeremy ready for his first apartment” birthday. He had earlier lamented the fact that no one gives showers for single guys moving away from home.

2. Being all together. Jeremy drove up here from SC and Jason and Mittu came on their way back from a trip to OK to visit her mom. It was so good to be all together again — even though we had only been apart for a week. 🙂

3. The Lego a Day site is posting again! We’ve been Legos fans for ages, and I loved this site when I first stumbled upon it. A Mr. Phelps makes really neat photos with Lego people doing various things and often with witty captions. I am so glad to see new posts.

4. Good first days of school for Jesse. He was more nervous that I have ever seen him, understandably, with this being his first major experience at being “the new guy.” But everything seemed to go well, and the other guys in his class were friendly. Plus he is not the only new one, and that helps — his class had 9 last year and they have 15 this year.

5. Eine Kleine Kaffeemusik. Some of you may be familiar with the Mulfinger family, which includes many talented musicians. I don’t know how to classify their Kaffeemusik. It’s classical-leaning, very enjoyable, relaxing music. I don’t usually have background music on while using the computer, but I felt like listening to this today. There are samples on their site as well as Sacredaudio.com.

Lizzie shared this yesterday — so poignant.

Even though God is with His children every step of the way — not just at the end or when we fall — still, this picture of a father’s love is a beautiful reflection of God’s. I was in tears for both the father and son.

  2. Happy Birthday to Jeremy! I love the idea for gifting him with items needed for a new apartment. He’s right! Single guys don’t usually get that luxury but it’s important! Sounds like an awesome celebration! =D

  3. “…no one gives showers for single guys moving away from home” – I love that – I have never thought of it that way, but it’s so true!

  4. Looks like Jeremy is all set now. What fun. He’s right—it is a shame that single guys moving out don’t get a shower. They need stuff, too! Glad he got his.

  5. Oh, I like the idea of a shower for guys moving to their first apartment. What a neat idea. Happy birthday to your son. Legos are pretty amazing. I remember seeing quite a display at Mall of America when my children were small. Not sure if they still have it there or not now though. Thanks for the link to the Legos site.

  7. A 26th birthday! Thats a lot of fun. Its fun to have theme birthdays too, 20 somethings can be difficult to buy for!

  8. Great FFF my friend. But no food LOL. HBD to Jeremy. I’m glad that Jesse is having a good time at school. The video was good. I liked it. Sounds like a great week. 🙂 Say how far a drive is it from SC to Tenn? Have a great weekend 🙂

  9. I’m glad you all got to be together for Jeremy’s birthday — and that you got him well supplied! I’ve done that with each of my kids as they moved out… it’s HARD for them to come up with everything they need – and half the time they don’t even THINK of the important things!

    I’m so glad that those first few days were good for Jesse too! I bet he’s heaving a HUGE sigh of relief to have that over with!

    I’ve seen that video before – it made me cry the first time I saw it too…

  11. What a great idea to give Jeremy a single guy’s kitchen shower. He’ll appreciate those appliances and so will you (he won’t be taking yours!).

  12. There aren’t any showers for single girls either! I can’t count how many bridal showers, baby showers, etc. I have attended for my friends. But alas, no showers for those of us who don’t marry or have kids. Poor us! 😉
