Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday’s Fave Five so we can share our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God gives. Click on the button to learn more, then go to Susanne’s to read others’ faves and link up your own.

Here are five favorite things from this past week:

1. Hershey’s miniature candy bars. Great for when you want just a bit of chocolate sweetness after a meal.

2. A new CD, Promises, by Soundforth. “Good Shepherd” is new to me and has especially ministered to my heart this week.

3, Getting a few things up on the walls. I’ve  been saving decorating for last after we get everything unpacked and get the couple of new furniture items we need. It takes me a while to decide where to put things, plus the previous owners covered all the wall holes and painted over them, and I have been reluctant to put that first nail in. But I unpacked a couple of things that had been in our bedroom in the old house, but would look great in the master bathroom here. Funny how a couple of pretty things to look at can boost one’s spirits!

Plus I love how these two just show up so well (or “pop,” as they say on decorating shows) in here. In our previous house they were on pink walls in our bedroom (too pink for even me) with a whole lot of other things, and they just kind of got lost.

4. Our new desk:

I haven’t figured out yet where to put everything in it.

5. Just a bit coolness in the air — not enough to pull out the sweaters, but it sure feels better than the oppressive heat and humidity. I’m not quite ready to rush the fall season in just yet, but I am ready for cooler weather!

Have a great Friday!

  1. I sO agree! The weather this week has been just gorgeous and I am only sorry that Mom really MUST be in the wheelchair for any walking adventure anymore. But I’m also THANKFUL to HAVE it!

I use mini peppermint patties for when my sweet tooth simply MUST be satisfied! They work like a charm! Or occasionally just a hershey kiss or two will do!

Your new desk is very pretty — and I like your pictures in the bathroom too! 🙂

  2. That desk is sooo nice. I love that iMac sitting on there. At least that what it looks like. Barbara where did you get your computer chair? I’m in the market for one and it looks like that has plenty of padding. I have tried those Hershey candies and I really like them. Beautiful photos my friend. 🙂 Excellent FFF. Have a great weekend 🙂

  3. Nothing like a bit of chocolate every now and then throughout the day, eh? 😉

Thanks for sharing with us on how you are decorating your new house.

    Have a lovely weekend.

  4. Gorgeous desk!!

Love those little Hershey bars too – I love them TOO much unfortunately. They never last long around here.

Our humidity has cleared as well – Earl brought some cooler weather. I’m enjoying it too.

    happy weekend!

  5. Wow now that is a desk, even my husband looking over my shoulder said, “look at that.”

It is nice to have cooler weather I have to agree.

Hersey is so sensible coming out with those ity bity bars, I so love this time of year

  6. Looks like you are getting settled Barbara. It’s a long process and you are doing well :0)
    Enjoy your weekend.

  7. Love that desk! Isn’t it funny how putting your things up on the wall really makes it feel like home?

    Have a great week ahead!

  8. I love Fall. It’s normally my favorite season. But this year I feel like we haven’t had summer yet. The weather has been so weird and wet this year.

When the stuff goes on the wall is when the cozy, this is my home feelings come.

  9. Dear Barbara,

thanks a lot for your nice words on the new curtains in my creative space, I am glad you like them!

I just had a look at some of my older post. The thing on my window shelf is actually a very large stand that my dear hubby made for me a couple of year ago. I have a smaller one, too. Here it is:

I found the tutorial in one of my TILDA books, “Sew pretty homestyle”. If your need any further information, just email me!

And good luck for your new home! ;-))

    Have a great week-end!
    Hugs, Anita

  10. I love that desk – the style and the finish on the wood. I still have things that I haven’t put up on my wall yet.
I love a little chocolate too.

  11. Lovely new desk! I’m glad that you got to use some things from your old home, too. It is amazing how nicely they work in the new bathroom. Miss you!

  12. Love the photos on your walls especially the one with a circle inside the square. (Know what I mean?)
Putting up pictures always makes me feel at home too.

Thanks for recommending the CD. I am always on the lookout for new music.

  13. Nice new desk! Isn’t it fun to look around at the bare walls and figure out what will look best in each spot? (Maybe that’s why we’ve moved so much–the adventure of switching things around) 🙂
