Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Click on the button to learn more, then go to Susanne’s to read others’ faves and link up your own.
Here are a few favorites from the past week:
1. Fifth Sunday Fellowship. Our church had one of these last Sunday night. It’s kind of funny that I can approach these things with a first-day-of-school type anxiety (“Will I find anyone to talk to?”) But some people did sit with us and talk to us, and we had an enjoyable time.
2. Thoughtfulness. My husband had to eat dinner with a visitor at work but brought a piece of chocolate cake home for me. Very sweet. Both hubby and the cake. 🙂
3. The end of January! One month closer to spring! We had a few nice days in the 60s, but now it is back to the 30s. Thankfully the big “snowpocalypse” missed us. But my daughter-in-law’s mother lives in OK and was stranded at the hospital where she works for four days. That’s not a bad place to be stranded, but still, no one likes to be stranded anywhere.
4. Living room chairs. Finally. We had ordered them months ago, but first one problem after another came up — first the manufacturer ran out of the material we ordered, and then the store delivered the wrong chair –with several weeks of waiting for each problem to be resolved. We got two just alike which face each other. They’re very comfy, and it’s nice to have that room be more usable and closer to being finished — now I can figure out where to place the rest of the wall decorations.
5. An adorable commercial. I included this in my previous post — but I love it, and not every one who reads that post will read this one, and vice versa.
And a bonus: this sign, seen on Facebook:

Your chairs do look very comfy. 🙂 Nice to snuggle up with a good book.
I am so glad that January is over as well! Usually I love the winter months but right now all I can think about is SPRING. (Primarily the arrival of April!)
Congratulations on FINALLY receiving your long-awaited living room chairs! Hurray! That must be so nice!
And that’s a really funny sign.
Have a great weekend!
Sounds like a wonderful week. How thoughtful of your husband to bring you a slice of cake!
A friend told me about that church sign. We could use it here, too!
I can so relate to your #1. “Will I find anyone to talk to?” and I’ve been going to my same church for years. Ha. And have never NOT found someone to talk to. But still…
Glad your chairs finally came in. Looks nice. We have a new couch on order, waiting. I love that commercial, too. And the sign. 🙂
So nice when a plan comes together. Your living room will be all sorts of comfy for what ever type of weather you have.
I get nervous too when attending church socials. I wish I were a social butterfly and was the one who made others feel at home.
That video and sign on fb brought smiles. Thanks.
Oh that sign…oh….I have tears in my eyes from laughing! I’m not on Facebook…so thanks! I have to show that to my Dad!
Glad there was someone to talk to and that had a good time. I really love that sign and I even reposted it on my facebook page :o)
Glad the chairs came. Have fun arranging…
That commercial is really funny, I saw it earlier. The new chairs are really pretty. Enjoy!
ROTFL yes, I’m rolling on the floor laughing as my husband comes into the room being the Darth Vader Male Ego Fan he is and watches this commercial you posted about. Now both of us are rotfl.
Like your chairs but I’m also suffering the effects of customer service these days alone with others I have read.
The sign is a hoot.
I don’t remember ever seeing this (Lord messages) growing up in a big city but since I moved to the Island 11 years ago at the top of Malpeque Rd the Pentecostal Church has a message board out that reads, “To cold to change the letters, message is inside.” Each drive to Charlottetown we always look for the message.
Can you BELIEVE January is already over??? Time is flying by! I’m so glad you finally got your chairs — and you are HAPPY with them!
That little Darth Vadar commercial IS adorable! LOL!
C’mon SPRING!
Those chairs look like good reading chairs!
What a cute commercial – I love it! And what a sweet hubby. Glad you had a good time at the church social.
Hope you have a snow-free week ahead.
(And THANKS AGAIN for the recommendation of my book!)
That sign is hilarious!
I understand the “first day” anxiety in new situations too. So glad others joined you and that you had a nice time and met some new people.
January is over! Yes, that’s great for everyone who is so looking forward to spring.
Your new chairs look like they were worth the wait and they look lovely with the sofa.
Mmmmm–chocolate cake! That would make my FFF too.
