Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Love the new banner!

Here are a few favorites from the past week:

1. My son’s testimony about God’s provision of a job. Then the day he heard he got the job, his car died. God worked it out that they were able to get a new car trading in both old cars and getting a decent interest rate after some checking around for options. Though I hate that they have another payment to add on to their responsibilities, it’s good to have a reliable car under warranty with good gas mileage since they’re driving more here than they were in SC. Though they’ve had a difficult year, God is providing and things are looking up for them.

2. Chicken chimichangas from a local Mexican food restaurant. Love those! I’ve thought about trying to make them from scratch at home — but these guys do it so well.

3. School’s out! No more alarm clocks! Most days, anyway.

4. My mother-in-law’s bird feeder and a bird book. My husband had gotten her a bird feeder for Mother’s Day, and she has enjoyed so much watching the visitors. We didn’t know what all of them were, so I ordered a bird identification book for her this week which she was delighted with as well.

5. My blog returning to normal. I don’t know if any of you noticed, but for most of the week my blog format was messed up — the grey from the sidebar background was extending all the way across the blog and the widgets were not right and half of them migrated to the bottom of the blog. The WP techs worked on it and it finally got back to normal last night. (Evidently there were some unclosed HTML tags in the widgets — they didn’t seem to cause a problem til I downloaded Firefox 4). It feels so clean and neat now! It wasn’t the biggest of blog problems, but it did bug me, and I am glad to have it fixed.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Isn’t it great when techie problems get solved. So glad this issue was resolved and everything is back to normal.

Yummm – chicken chimichangas. I am hungry and the thought of these is making my mouth water. 🙂

I am thinking about getting a bird feed for my patio. Good tip about the bird book. Sounds like a great present for your mother-in-law.

    Have a great week, Barbara.

  2. Hmm. Usually I notice changes in blog appearance, and I have definitely been around here this week, but I didn’t notice. Glad it got fixed.

We have developed a real bird fascination around here. Hope it’s as enjoyable for your MIL as it is for us!

  3. Mmm Mmm good chicken chimichangas. I love em. Glad your son got new wheels. That’s always nice. I try and stay away from a lot of plugins and widgets because of that very problem. My guy tells me that you never know whonwrites them and what’s in them. So I use as few as possible. Glad it got fixed. Barbara after you every tried Chrome? I love it. Much better than Firefox if you ask me. Yeah. School break 🙂 enjoy

  4. Yay for God’s provision on the car!

And I love that your MIL is enjoying her bird feeder so much.

I’m hoping that Blogger has sorted out their issues as well. I had a hard time leaving comments this week and finally gave up after a point. But it all looks good now!

Hope you all have a wonderful three-day weekend!

  5. Glad God is providing for your son. Yea for no school!!! Blog problems aren’t big in the grand scheme of things, but they sure can be annoying. I haven’t been able to log into Blogger comments for days now. Argghhh. Glad your problems are fixed!

  6. Don’t you love seeing how God provides? Especially when it’s from a totally unexpected source. What a terrific idea to give a bird feeder and an identification book!

  7. So neat that your son is seeing God’s provision for him! I love the bird feeder/bird book idea.

I have so little patience with blog problems…glad to hear your problems are fixed.

And I’m seconding that “School’s Out!” comment from way down here in S. Florida!

  8. Glad schools out for the summer and the alarm clocks are silenced! Enjoy.
    Chimichangas! Yum.
Glad things are working out nicely for your son…
Have a wonderful memorial Day weekend.

  9. Loved reading your list as always….We really enjoy feeding and watching the birds…I know your Mother in law will too.
    Mama Bear

  10. Blog design issues stress me out and make me sweat! Glad yours were figured out for you and you didn’t have to do the work yourself.

What a sweet idea to get the bird book for your mother in law. I’ll bet she’ll spend many enjoyable hours with it and watching the birds at the feeder.

Congrats again to your son on his new job. Glad he’s got a car he can count on now.

  11. I loved your son’s testimony and I am so glad that the kids can se the hand of God working in their lives.
