Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Here are a few favorites from the past week:

1. Jason’s birthday — actually Monday before last but celebrated last Saturday. Always fun to shower some extra love and attention on someone on their special day and let them know “We’re glad you’re here!”

2. Jason’s cake. A friend of Mittu’s made this cake shaped like a Mac book — commemorating one of Jason’s loves 🙂  along with an iPod on top.

3. This card Jesse gave to Jason. The boys don’t usually exchange cards, but when Jesse saw this he had to get it — it just “fits”!

4. Dinner at Cheddar‘s, a restaurant we had never heard of before moving here, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. We enjoyed sharing their Triple Treat Sampler for appetizers and then I had their baby-back ribs and grilled shrimp — the best shrimp I think I have ever had. Mouthwatering. And I had some leftovers from the meal for the next day!

5. Clear and deep thinkers who know how to express themselves in a way that is accessible to others. I’m reading Beyond Suffering: Discovering the Message of Job by Layton Talbert and The Way into Narnia: A Reader’s Guide by Peter Schakel and gaining so much insight from both.

It’s been a good week! I hope yours has been as well.

  2. The Mac book cake is adorable. Wow. I’m impressed with Mittu’s friend! Love the card. Ha.

    You’re making me hungry for Cheddar’s now. We got one in Huntsville about a year ago but I’ve only eaten there once. There is always a crowd. Have a great weekend!

  3. OMG I love that card and Hau’oli La Hanau to Jason. I’m digging that birthday card as well. Now you’ve gone and done it and made me hungry for Cheddar’s. Have a wonderful weekend my dear sweet friend.

  4. Mittu’s friend did a great job with the cake, and the card is awesome! Happy birthday to your son.

    I’ve never been to Cheddars, but now if I get to go to one, I will definitely try the grilled shrimp.

  11. That is the perfect card for a little brother to give to his big brother for his birthday! Loved it! And that’s an amazing cake–so clever!

  14. I will check out Beyond Suffering: Discovering the Message of Job by Layton Talbert Barbara. Our pastor is going through Job and I am looking for a good book on suffering for a chronic pain class I’ll be leading. I will check you blog to see if you’ve done a review on that book.

    Sometimes you find just the perfect card and you HAVE to buy it. This ones is soooo cute.
