Wow, another week whizzed by…here it is Friday again! Some favorites from the past week:
1. Feeling much better than last week. Still having an occasional twinge or ache, but very mild compared to last week.
2. Chinese take-out. We had eaten at Wok Hay before, but Friday night I wasn’t feeling like an excursion, so we Jim got take-out to bring home. It may sound silly, but we’d never had the little boxes like you see on TV whenever anyone gets Chinese take-out, and it was fun to do that. And I love their scallion beef and fried rice.
3. Meals made by others. Jim grilled chicken Sunday and Mittu made lasagna Monday night, both very good. (Hmmm, maybe I should feel indisposed more often. 🙂 No, not really….being in pain isn’t worth it, but it was nice to have a few nights off from cooking.)
4. Quick cookies. Thursday morning there were no desserty things to pack with Jesse’s lunch, so a recipe Mittu got from a teacher came to the rescue: Mix 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of peanut butter, and 1 egg together, drop by teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Usually we put Hershey’s kisses in the middle of them after taking them out of the oven, but there wasn’t time for them to get firm again after getting all melty, so I mixed in some chocolate and peanut butter chips. And it only makes 15-18, so there wasn’t a ton left to tempt me.
5. An invite to Pinterest….as if I need something else to tempt me to spend more time at the computer! 🙂 But it is a neat site to look at and add to in bits and pieces of time.
Gotta dash off for a meeting, but I look forward to visiting with you later in the day. Happy Friday!

Glad you are feeling better. I love little chinese boxes, so fun to spread them all out and eat right out of them.
The recipe: I would think the peanut butter wouldn’t hold its shape after it had gotten hot without a binder….
I’m sorry you weren’t feeling well but it was nice of everyone to help out with the meals.
Glad you’re feeling better, Barbara. Makes for a better week. I have still never had Chinese take-out–one of these days I’ll have to give it a try. 🙂 Those cookies sound delicious.
I still haven’t dipped a toe into Pinterest because I’m afraid I’d never come out. ha. Glad you’re enjoying it. One day I’m sure I’ll cave though and dive in.
I just joined Pinterest myself but haven’t done much with it yet.
Just so you won’t feel alone, I’ve never had the little Chinese takeout boxes either.
Sorry you had to be under the weather – but I enjoy having someone else cook too. It’s a nice change.
I’ve heard Pinterest mentioned several times lately and had no idea what it was. I just popped over and had a look and was… underwhelmed. with some of the pics especially.
I’m glad you’re feeling better, and glad others could cook when you were indisposed!
I just joined Pinterest a couple months ago. It is fun. It’s given me some neat ideas.
Glad you’re feeling better.
Happy Thanksgiving to ya!
Any day I don’t have to cook is a good day. 🙂 I am glad your family pampered you while you weren’t feeling well.
Have a great weekend.
Glad you are feeling better Barbara. Meals by others is a real treat! Have a wonderful weekend. I’m avoiding Pinterest…we’ll see for how long!
Glad you are feeling better.
I’ve never had take out in those little boxes, either. I always wondered if they really used those in ‘real’ life or only in movies.
Nice that your family has been helping you out!
The Chinese looks good, don’t know if I have ever eaten this. I too like food prepared by others ! Lol ! I am off to Amsterdam now to celebrate housewarming and Toby’s birthday !
Well, yes, if you have to be out of commission it IS nice to have other people make the food! Sounds yummy!
Pinterest. I know it. I try not to get on there too frequently.
Chinese food eaten in the restaurant or from take-out boxes is all tasty! Lots of times our family (growing up) would have Chinese food via those take-out boxes on Christmas Eve.
Those quick cookies sound interesting. I will put those on my to-cook list for when my nieces and I get together. Yesterday we made cookies with cake mix as the main ingredient.
I hope this week finds you feeling ALL better.
I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Chinese take out is always a fantastic treat – isn’t it?
I’ll have to try those cookies. I can hardly keep up with my boys appetites, and these would be easy to whip up.
I love Chinese food (I’m a Chinese – LOL!)
I hope you continue to feel better, Barbara. 🙂
So glad you are feeling better And that you got in some pampering while you weren’t able to get around.
Sounds like a great week not having to cook much!! I love Chinese food!!
Glad you’re feeling a bit better. So nice of everyone to rise to the occasion and give you a few days off of cooking. We’ve only had those little boxes once and I remember being quite surprised how much food they can cram in there.
I’ve been avoiding pinterest the same way I’ve been avoiding facebook. I need time away from the computer and I know those will suck me in.
