Another week has flown by! Here are some of my favorite parts of it:
1. The little doohickey that enables me to listen to an audiobook on my iPhone through my car speakers….a car which only has a cassette player. I forgot what you call it, but one end plugs into a CD player (what we used to use it for) or an iPhone and the other end is a cassette tape that goes into the player. It was hard to hear just the iPhone over car and traffic noises.
2. A thoughtful husband, who, after just overhearing me talk about the above device in a conversation with my son, while I was wondering where that device might be since we hadn’t used it in a long time, quietly found it and set it up for me so it was all ready to use next time I drove.
3. Enlarging small photos. I mentioned last week going through a box of my mother-in-law’s old photos. The majority of them were only 2 x 3 inches, and I wasn’t sure if she’d be able to see them well enough to identify any of the people. I scanned them in and printed them out 4 x 6, and I was so glad that worked well.
It’s been fun looking at them with her.
4. Working on a Cooking for 2 recipe book. With just three of us at home, and sometimes just two, often I just make regular meals and then have leftovers for lunch or another dinner. But I do have a lot of recipes for just 2-4 from when Taste of Home used to publish a Cooking For Two magazine (I miss that one!) I’ve been wanting to pull those out and compile a separate recipe book so I could find those without digging through the others I’ve pulled out of magazines. I was especially glad to find a scaled- down Texas Sheet Cake recipe — I love that but rarely make it since the original recipe makes a cookie-sheet panful.
5. Having the Frazor team at our church last Sunday. Always a joy.
Bonus: Finally getting decent pictures of these guys, as decent as I can get through a glass window and screen.
I didn’t think rabbits ate seeds, but apparently they found something in the bird feeder they like!
Have a great Friday!

Love the old pictures! How fun.
I got a new car stereo that lets me play music off a memory stick, and I love that feature. Our technology just keeps getting better and better. 🙂
Glad your husband was sweet enough to hook it up for you.
Cooking for 2–we’re in the same boat. Our last year of cooking for 3 (sometimes) and then this fall, only 2. Sigh.
Love the rabbit pictures.
We have one of those doom-a-hickeys for the car too. LOL. This year the kids got a converter they just plug into the ipod or iphone that works without the cord or the cassette tape. It’s nice to have it. Sweet of your hubby to find yours and get it all set up for you.
The old pictures are fantastic. What a great idea blowing them up to a bigger size for your mom in law.
We used to have one of those ‘doohickeys’. So convenient. But now we have the cd player…wonder if they make something for that?
Some of our favorite recipes I make have come from the Taste of Home Light is was getting for awhile.
Have a great weekend!
What a great way to use your cassette player.
I create recipe pages of our favorites. It always needs updating!
LOL, I think your bird feeder needs to be a little higher!
I would love to see a pared-down version of Texas Sheet cake! I made one at Christmas time and we couldn’t eat it all.
Hello,
I had a no blog week so don’t bother looking for a post from me. But I did feel like visiting this afternoon since I have the house all cleaned and its pizza night so not too much prep work for dinner.
One thing I did this summer was freeze some stuffed peppers. My recipe cooks up the stuffing in a skillet, then you stuff the raw pepper halves. Then instead of baking them in the oven, I layered them in a freezer container with waxed paper in between. Now, I just take out 2-4 and bake them. Unfortunately, we had the last of them this week. I’m hoping to put up more of them this summer. So nice to have ready to go. When I make a pot of soup, we usually have it once as leftovers but in the past, I’ve frozen half for another meal. Just a couple of ways to deal with cooking for two.
Have a blessed weekend.
Mama Bear
Awww…. Those bunnies are adorable! I never would have guessed a rabbit would go for a bird feeder. Sounds like a potential children’s book!
The bunnies really are cute. What a sweet hubby you have. Glad you are finding recipes scaled down for 2. Have a great weekend.
Your pictures look as if they came out of my old album, lol ! Apparently we had all the same fashion ! My mother had the same hairdo and the clothes look very much alike.
Love the rabbits stealing in the bird feeder, how cute !
Old pictures and recipe books…my faves!!! Sounds like you had a good week. I still can’t figure out most of the doohickeys they have but my 13 yr old stepdaughter doesn’t seem to have a problem with it, hahaa.
I use that doohicky, too! Love it. What a terrific idea for the photos your MIL will be able to see. We had a similar project for some friends whose mother was going into a care facility. She had spent the last several decades on genealogy so family photos were significant to her. We photographed her pictures as they were arranged on her wall then made several collages of them and printed them out on 20×30 poster prints for her room at the facility.
I use that same doohickey in my car to listen to my audio books – love it! How nice of your hubby to go find it for you.
Looking at old photos with someone who knows the stories behind them is a great way to spend the day!
Great capture on the rabbits!
I never heard of the Frazor Team before so I clicked on their link. Looks like it was a special time of worship. So glad you are able to hear your music in the car now thanks to technology and a thoughtful husband.
I need to make up a recipe book on cooking for 2 as well. My, you are soooo organized too. I hope you will share some of your fave recipes.
What? Bunnies are out where you are at already? Cute photos!
