Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week,  wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Here are a few favorites from this past week.

1. Safety in an accident. We ran into the back of a truck on the way home Sunday afternoon. The truck was ok, but our van had hit their trailer hitch, which did a good bit of damage to our front bumper, grill, and radiator. But thankfully no one was hurt. We were especially concerned about Grandma, who was with us at the time, but she was fine.

2. Getting my van back after repairs from the accident.

3. Sunshine. It hasn’t been as cold or icy or snowy as last winter, but it has been rainy and overcast for a number of days. But this week has been very sunshiny. (I wrote this yesterday afternoon and it is overcast this morning…oh well, it was nice while it lasted. 🙂 )

4. Hearing Jesse’s school choir and an ensemble compete in a regional fine arts contest. They won and are going to the State competition!

5. Having an unexpected day off school. I knew this coming Monday was a day off due to a teacher work day, but Friday (today) is off, too, and it wasn’t on the original school calendar. I was so excited about getting to sleep in til I remembered I do have to be somewhere this morning. :-/ Oh well. But I think I can sleep a smidgen longer than usual.

Happy Friday!

  1. Glad you already got your van back! That’s pretty quick.

Congratulations to Jesse’s choir. I hope they do well in the State competition. What a good note to end on for his senior year (no pun intended. ha).

  2. Glad you are ok!!!! Accidents are scary 😦

Oooh a day off from school…nice!! I think in our area we had one snow day because of the super nice “winter” weather. But the kids still have their random days off.

Yay for the choir going to state competition!!!

    have a great weekend!

  3. I’ve been sleeping in quite a few mornings this winter….Jim feeds Smokey for me so I don’t have to get up on Cat-time….just one of the things I love about having him home from Memphis….
    Mama Bear

  4. How scary the accident must have been especially for Grandma. So glad everyone is ok and that you have your van back already! That is quick.

Unexpected days off are a blessing even if errands must be done. I hope you were able to sleep in some.

Congrats to Jesse’s school choir and an ensemble. I bet that was a fun time for all of them and certainly memory-making.

  5. Oh my goodness! So glad to hear that no one was hurt in the accident…definitely something for the favorites list, for sure! here’s hoping your upcoming week is…um, less eventful!

  6. So glad you all are ok! That’s what matters.
Congratulations to you son’s choir going to state. What a fun experience for them! My opinion is that music in schools is so under-appreciated. I enjoy hearing when a student excels in that area.

  7. So glad that no one was injured in the accident! When I was rear ended in Dec., my car didn’t look damaged but there was damage to the bumper underneath. I’m glad that you got your car back. That was quick!
We have next Friday and Monday off. I’m looking forward to having some time where we can just stay home and not have to run from activity to activity. Hope you enjoy your 2 school free days.

  8. Thank the Lord no one was hurt in that accident!! We had some lovely sunny days here in my part of NY this week too!
You asked about the honey. You can either have some by the spoonful (that’s what I do twice a day) or put some into a mug of tea…I usually do that in the evenings when I have a sore throat. My throat is STILL scratchy today so guess what I’ll be drinking tonite?? LOL…I love days off from the classroom too! In fact, 5 more work days and then we are on Winter Recess for a week!! Happy weekend….

  9. OH!! a stacked bob is just what it sounds like. the hair is cut into a bob shape but “stacked” in the back….shorter underneath….like stacks of layers….with longer sides in front. You can google it….it’s similar to a wedge bob. if that helps! texturizing the hair is just cutting into it with this razor like thingy…my hair is super thick and straight so I like to get it texturized to cut down on the heaviness.

  10. Oh how I love days off and the freedom to sleep in. Glad no one was seriously hurt and you have your van back now…
We had a lovely stretch of sunshine here in the Northwest that put smiles on everyone’s faces! Hope you have a good weekend.

  11. Good that only your car was damaged and nobody hurt ! and car repairs are not funny either. It’s still very cold in Belgium, and Mr. G’s car doesn’t start, we had to call our Driving assistance. Now he is without and has to take mine, which doesn’t make me happy !

  12. Barbara, I’m so glad that no one was injured in the vehicle mishap. I can’t believe the van is fixed already. That was quick. A blessing in the midst of a trial for sure.

It’s a cold here this morning, 6*F, but I’ll take it as that is pretty mild considering what we can usually be sitting at at this time of year. No snow though. It’s been dry as a bone again.

  13. Oh dear! I’m glad you and the van are ok now.
Congratulations to Jesse’s choir–it’s always exciting to get to go to state competitions.

  14. So glad you are safe and the van is back on task 🙂 We’ve had nothing but sunshine and are looking forward to a little rain this week — the opposite of your week, apparently.
