It’s the first Friday in August. Many of my favorites this week have appeared here previously—but it’s good to be continually thankful for continued blessings. I join Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story to share pour favorites from the week.
1. A lunch invitation. My son and daughter-in-law invited us over for a lunch chicken nachos last Sunday after church. Afterward, we played a children’s version of Charades with my grandson that was surprisingly fun.
2. My husband offers to go to the grocery store for me sometimes. Other times, when I go and come back hot and tired, he’s willing to get something out for dinner.
3. Timothy visit. We got a voice text from my grandson yesterday asking if they could come over. Of course!
4. Lighter temperatures. It’s been in the 80s this week rather than 90s—70s one day. With humidity in the 90s, it’s still been warm and muggy. But even that little drop helps take the edge of the heat.
5. Anticipation. My oldest son comes for a visit next weekend! My husband will take next week off, and the other kids will be here more than usual.
That’s my short but sweet list of highlights from this week. What’s one of yours?

Sounds like a nice week! I fully understand the relief even a bit cooler temps can offer (it’s been the same situation here this week). I hope you’ll have a great visit with your oldest! A highlight from this week for me was going to the local art museum with a friend one evening, joined by the girls. Afterwards we tried (and enjoyed) a new ice cream place in town.
We had much cooler temps this week and I LOVED it. temps from 65-80 are my absolute faves especially cause the humidity levels were super low. they’re creeping back up but at least the heat index is cooler still.
I love that your husband sometimes makes dinner. Mine does too every once in a while especially if i’m off hiking a big mountain.
Love that Timothy loves spending time with you. And enjoy the visit with your son!
oh goodies! Timothy is coming over again 😊, and more family time: I’m sure you are looking forward to that. Your husband is so nice to do the grocery shopping! I’m so thankful when my husband does it for me….
How nice that your family meets so often. My DIL always finds an excuse not to come, now it’s the long Covid (?) I think she will enter the Guiness Book of records. She only comes for Birthdays, and Christmas. Now that they have a dog, she stays home to keep the dog. I gave up all efforts. I think she is jealous. That’s also why I am so happy to move there I have company, lots of activities, and a beautiful view (+room) Your DIL seems to be a Darling !!
Maybe short, but exceedingly sweet. I love how Timothy just wants to hang out with you–treasure every moment!
Your husband is a keeper–always helping (as is mine).
Have a good week!
Absolutely nothing wrong with repeats!
Now, chicken nachos — that sounds quite good.
Aren’t the 80s so lovely after 90s? I’m amazed you got down to 70s. A friend of mine went to Pismo Beach (about 200 miles north from me) where it was 60s with fog. Sigh.
Enjoy your son’s visit and family gatherings!
Glad you’re getting so much family time. Always a joy. The cooler temps have been pleasant to me too (when they come). I’m not a fan of the days getting shorter already though. 😦 Jeff often volunteers to do the grocery shopping now that he’s retired, if I’ll make the list. I just have to expect that he’ll also come back with things that are not on the list. 🙂
