Yay for the first Friday in February! The weather is cold, but after single digits in January, 30+ degrees doesn’t feel so bad. I’m joining Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story in sharing five good things from the past week.
1. Bird feeders. I had been neglecting them, but my husband filled them the last couple of weeks. The birds are slowly finding them again, mainly chickadees and cardinals so far.
2. Getting back to church. I’m abundantly thankful church is available live online. We benefited from it through weeks of illness. But it was so good to be able to be there in person again.
3. An outing. I had a doctor’s appointment Tuesday, then went to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies for Valentine’s cards. I had a gift card, so I indulged in some pretties for the kitchen as well.
4. A long overdue haircut does wonders in helping me feel put together rather than a mess.
5. A good visit with Timothy. I mentioned in my end-of-month wrap-up that our church held a parenting seminar last weekend. We watched Timothy so Jason and Mittu could go. Though he’s comfortable with us, he had never been with us quite that long before–one evening plus the next morning and early afternoon. But he did fine. He and his Granddad played games, including checkers–the standard way at first, then making up their own rules. 🙂
How was your week?

Spending time with grandchildren is such a blessing! And your Hobby Lobby items are pretty! We don’t have Hobby Lobby, but we do have a store called Michaels that I think is similar. I have to make sure I have a list when I go shop there, otherwise I may end up straying away from my budget!
We have a Michael’s, too, and it is similar. They just put one near us recently, and I have to keep reminding myself it’s there. My family keeps me stocked with gift cards for Christmas, birthdays, and Mother’s Day, so it’s fun to walk around and explore.
Oh my — Timothy is getting so big! I like all your things this week! A Hobby Lobby “reward” sounds wonderful. We finally had a sunny day here yesterday and it’s amazing how much better that makes things seem. I too am enjoying my bird feeders — similar birds to what you have. And yes on the difference a haircut can make 🙂 Praying you and Jim are continuing to improve.
The “pretties” that you purchased at Hobby Lobby are so pretty. Our Josh would like the saying about Grandma’s kitchen. :) I’m so glad that you were able to have Timothy last weekend! What a blessing for his parents to be able to attend the parenting seminar, knowing that Timothy was being taken care of with love. Have a wonderful weekend, Barbara.
We enjoy watching the birds. Temperatures are warmer today and we have Carolina Wrens, chickadees, and lots of other birds. 🙂 Have a blessed day!
I love what you bought at Hobby Lobby. I go in for an item or two and end up with a cartful usually. hahah
How fun to spend the weekend with Timothy over.
YES! Nothing like being in church in person although I too am grateful for online services when needed.
I love watching the birds at our feeders…and thanks for the reminder to go out this afternoon to check them and refill!!
I hope you have a great weekend.
Sounds like things are slowly getting back to normal for you — in person worship and a bit of shopping. Hoping that your cellulitis has improved.
It’d be interesting to see what rules your husband and grandson create. Roomie’s family and another family used to play a lot of games together. One fellow was always wanting to change things up, but the other players weren’t as interested 😉
Jim’s favorite house rule is being able to jump your own man. He and Jesse used to play that way, along with other made-up house rules. Then when Jesse went to first grade and played checkers with his teacher during one rainy recess, she wondered what in the world he was playing. 🙂
The original wounds that caused the cellulitis are shrinking steadily, but very slowly. There were four, and now there are only two, but the two biggest ones. I was at the doctor Tuesday, and she was pleased with how they looked, so that was encouraging. Thanks for your prayers!
Haircuts certainly do make us feel better. I have one coming up on Wednesday. I can’t wait.
I’m glad Timothy had a good time with Grandpa. Grandpa’s are the best!
It is so good to see the sunshine! And when I got out, I only have to wear a hoodie instead of my winter coat.
Hobby Lobby always has such cute things. I always overspend when I go there!
I used to love to play checkers as a child. I have a gift card for Hobby Lobby to use. I usually buy paper craft items. Watching church from home is nice, but seeing my friends is nice. Plus, my granddaughter sings and plays the keyboard for the praise band. I am hoping to get back this Sunday. Have a great weekend!
I like your Hobby Lobby purchases – we have Hobbycraft stores here in the UK which sound similar. It must be the week for haircuts – I got one too lol. Always a blessing to spend time with grandkids. Hope you have a good weekend.
Hi Barbara! So glad you are feeling better and could get back to church. I completely know what you mean – watching online is a blessing, but nothing beats being there in person! I love the fun things you found at Hobby Lobby. So glad you were able to have Timothy stay with you while his parents were away. Looks like he enjoyed some extra grandma and grandpa time. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!
I too went to the hairdresser !! Unfortunately Indian food is very expensive here maybe because there are not many Indians living in Belgium. When you go to the UK it’s the cheapest plate ! I haven’t seen my grandson for quite a long time he is now in an age where he prefers to stay with his friends then with Grandma, and now visits will be complicated because they live in Amsterdam and I in my castle, so they have to take a Hotel or something. Anyway I am happy here and don’t regret at all my decision.
Oh yes, haircuts are definitely on the ‘it makes me feel better’ list. And having Timothy there for so much of the weekend sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. In that photo, he looks like he is getting so big!
Hobby Lobby is a great place. I can get lost in there.
Have a good week! Willow
I’m scheduled for a haircut this week and I CAN’T WAIT! I am long overdue.
The birds here have been finicky about my feeders. I’m not sure sometimes, what attracts them, because I almost always offer the same things. I’m a bit envious that you have cardinals! They don’t come this far west, and it’s always a treat to see them when I visit my son in Wisconsin, and see them on the drive there, too.
I’m overdue for a trip to Hobby Lobby, too;) I like the Valentine decorations you picked up!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend, Barbara.
