It’s the last Friday of May already. I’m pausing with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story to look back over the blessings of the past week.
1. The National Memorial Day Concert on PBS Sunday night reminded and helped us honor the memories of those who died that we might enjoy freedom.
2. Grilling and family time. Monday, we enjoyed grilled burgers, hot dogs, sausage, sides, and cheesecake. We ended the day playing games.
3. Our care group met Sunday after church for a shared dinner and time of fellowship and prayer.
4. Sunny days. After several torrential downpours, tornado watches, and a bit of hail last week, it’s been nice to see the sun out all this week.
5. Pantry reorganizing. Our kitchen pantry is the size and shape of a small walk-in closet. The shelves on the right hold food. The shelves on the left hold some small appliances, paper goods, serving dishes, and assorted other items. I had an idea to reorganize some of the items on the left. I had hoped to create more space. Though that didn’t happen, the area looks neater and seems a little more efficiently arranged. That’s been on my mind to do for a while, so it was nice to have a chance to do it.
And that ends another week—and month! What’s a blessing from your week?

I love organizing things. Most of the time it’s an improvement. Other times it’s not. I’m glad you’ve gotten your kitchen pantry organized to your liking. Have a great weekend!
I have a BIG pantry. Reorganizing it would be a task, but it sounds like a good idea, especially since lately we’re kind of changing what we’re eating. Thanks for the inspiration — and happy June!
I rarely reorganize a whole closet or storage space at one time any more–I don’t have that much energy. π It’s more like a shelf here, a drawer there. This started with an idea to switch two things around, putting the thing we used least in the hardest-to-reach corner. And that led to a few other switches. The tools my husband uses for grilling are on that side, but I trred not to touch any of that so he wouldn’t be disoriented next time he used them.
Organizing! I can’t wait to have some organization in my life! π
I hope too to find a church in my new area and join some ladies groups.
We have enjoyed a nice sunny week but we are in for some cloudy rainy days this weekend.
Yummy on the grilling! I grilled some pork steaks and bacon cheddar bratwursts on Monday. So good we have eaten leftovers a couple times.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I would love to have an actual pantry. Glad you were able to get a more efficient reorganization. The grilling food sounds so good. I’m with you on sunny days. It’s been such a grey spring, it seems, with days on end having cloud cover it’s so lovely to have that sun warming us up.
Oh how I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a pantry! my “pantry” is a big tall set of metal shelving (kind of like a huge metal bookcase but open on all sides) down in the basement. It works for us but oh how i would love a real pantry…especially as I get older and don’t wanna climb those basement steps. They’re carpeted but…..still…..
I love that you had food and fellowship and games with your family. If my husband and youngest daughter had been able to come, we definitely would have played some board games.
I hope you have a good weekend. Glad you are safe from all those tornadoes I’ve been seeing on our upstate NY news from down south!
Even small organizational projects feel good, don’t they? I had a friend who hated housework, but she lived alone and decided that committing five minutes per day to tidying an area helped her get around to the whole house, eventually.
Your Memorial Day sounds terrific. Roomie and I were deep into our garage project that day, thankful for the freedoms won by those who gave all.
Glad to hear you missed most of the severe storms hitting the midwest and south!
Your Memorial Day cookout sounds lovely and it’s wonderful that you have family close by that you can share things like that with.
I understand what a blessing sunshine is! Last week it seemed as though it rained/ stormed just about every day. We have had cooler temperatures this week. Last night’s low was 39 degrees.
i have several places that I would like to organize but at this point they will probably get put off until late fall… canning season will soon be here.
We watched the National Memorial Concert too. I sang along. It made me think of my dad who played patriotic music while we grew up. He was in the Navy. It is always nice to get things organized! Have a great weekend!
So good to have more organizing done. Everything just works better..
Your Memorial weekend sounds like a good and also thoughtful one.
Have a good weekend! Willow
