Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

It’s Friday again, when I pause with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story to reflect on the good things from the week.

1. My oldest son is home. He came in last Friday from RI. It’s been a low-key week so far—Mittu has had a horrible respiratory infection (tested negative for Covid, flu, and strep), and Jim, Jason, and I have had touches of various things through the week. But we’ve enjoyed being together and talking, and we hope to get out to do some things later on.

2. Clingman’s Dome is the highest point in TN. There’s an observation tower with a great view of the surrounding area. Jim and Jeremy hiked the trail to the tower Monday and enjoyed it the scenery.

3. Jeremy’s birthday. I’m glad he could be here to celebrate it!

4. An easy fix. I was having trouble with my most-used outlet in our bathroom working intermittently and then not at all. Jim took his tester in there, thinking he might have to replace the outlet. After he unscrewed and tested it, he found an inner screw was loose. That took care of the problem!

5. A revitalized hair dryer. In the course of trying to fix the above problem, we thought at first my hair dryer might be having trouble. It was what worked the least in the outlet before it went kaput. Jim opened it up and cleaned out the lint and dust. Now it blows better than it has in a long time!

That’s our week! How was yours?

  1. I’m so sorry that some of you have been under the weather this week with Jeremy’s visit. It’s great that Jim and he were able to hike to Clingman’s Dome. That’s on my bucket list. I’ve been there (in the parking area) but never to the top.

Hurray for Jim for fixing all those pesky problems! He’s a handy guy to have around.

Happy Birthday to Jeremy! He might be glad not to be up in RI while Ernesto is passing by.

    • Just looking at the ramp to the observation tower, I didn’t think I could make something that long and steep. They had to pause and catch their breath several times. Thankfully, there were plenty of benches. I enjoyed their pictures.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear that so many in your family haven’t been feeling the greatest…especially dear Mittu. Prayers for her to soon be well.

What a blessing that Jeremy could be home with you all for his birthday! I’m sure that made his birthday special for him.

I bet you are so happy that Jim retired. Is there anything that man can’t do? He certainly is handy to have around.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Barbara.

  3. I hope you feel better soon. How nice to have a visit with your son and that he was able to fix a few things for you. That cake looks really good! Enjoy your weekend.

  4. Good stuff comes in all sizes – big and small. So glad yo have had a nice week and were able to have time with your son. It’s also great that he was able to help you get your electrical outlet working well again! I hope you all feel better soon and have a good weekend.

  5. Love the photo, happy birthday to your son! That sounds like a challenging hike; glad they could do it and I hope Jim wasn’t feeling bad at that point! My hair dryer has lots of visible dust. I need to see if my husband can open it up … Happy weekend!

  6. I hope you all feel better soon. Glad you got your outlet and hairdryer fixed – my hubby would help by looking up an electricians number lol. Happy birthday to Jeremy. Have a good weekend.

  9. Timothy has become a big boy ! I always remember your worries when he was born too early ! He caught up very well ! I enjoy our huge park here, and we finally also have summer weather ! That’s nice that you have your son for a visit !

  10. Yay for easy fixes! How nice to have your son home for a visit. I’m a tad envious because our oldest son was supposed to visit this week and his plans changed. I guess I’ll have to enjoy the anticipation a bit longer.

Sending get well wishes for Mittu.
