Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

Once again, I find myself asking, “Is it Friday again already?” And this Friday is the first one in a new month. I’m thankful Susanne at Living to Tell the Story started this weekly exercise in pausing from life’s busyness to look for God’s blessings. Last week was her 800th FFF post!

1. Another quiet week. As I mentioned last week, these are my favorite.

2. Family well again. I’ve shared that Mittu, my daughter-in-law, has been sick for several weeks, and then Timothy was. They were all at church Wednesday for the first time in almost a month. Jason said he felt like they finally turned a corner. Thankfully, he didn’t get sick.

3. Labor Day.We don’t really “celebrate” this except that most of the family has the day off and we get together to grill burgers. It’s kind of like the last hurrah of summer.

4. Not one, but TWO Chick-Fil-A biscuits in one week! 🙂 Jim brought one home for me after he went to the gym, and another after he met a friend from church at CFA for coffee.

5. Our writing critique group usually meets every other week. But during the summer, we cut back to once a month because so many of us were going to be in and out over the summer. We ended up having to cancel August’s meeting altogether–which actually helped since August was my family’s busiest month. We got back to our regular routine staring this week. Not only do I enjoy all the ladies in our group, but it’s stimulating to talk about writing and share our thoughts on each others’ work.

How’s your September going so far?

  1. I love that you’re in a writing group you enjoy! Just as with a book club, I feel like it’s so important that the personalities and styles in a group “gel,” which can be hard to accomplish. That’s really a blessing. So glad all the family is well again. And now I’m hungry, thinking of those Chick-fil-A biscuits … 🙂

  2. I’m so happy to hear that Mittu and Timothy are better. They have had a long drive of it.

And what a treat to have CFA two times in one week!

  3. That writing group would be so stimulating for you, and helpful in so many ways. I’m glad you’re back on schedule.

Also, good news that Mittu and Timothy are well again. And that Jason never got sick.

I love quiet weeks, too. I think I need one. Have a good weekend! Willow

  4. Praise God that your DiL and grandson are finally feeling well.

Oh wow…I have yet to try a chick fiil A biscuit but i do love their caesar salad. they’re dressing is perfect.

I hope your writing group continues to go well as the year progresses.

You mentioned all the groups my church offers. Yes, our church actually has 3 sites in the Capital Region of NY. I am at the main site. the church has been in existence since 1990 but we joined in 2005 escaping one that was turning cult like and spiritually abusive. We praise God for our senior pastor and our site pastors. with all 3 sites, we offer about 90 small groups, Bible studies or classes to pick from!! God is good.

  5. Hi Barbara! Glad you had a quiet, calm, peaceful week. Glad that your family is feeling better. I hope that you have a good weekend. Your writers group sounds good. See you again soon!

  6. Ahhhh. A quiet week is a thing of beauty. And health for your dear family. These are gifts indeed.

Love your food faves — they are small but sweet things nevertheless.

I like your description of your critique group conversations.

  7. Hi Barbara, glad to hear your family is doing better. My groups took a couple of months off, and we start back next week. I am in four groups, but I may have to cut back in one. I have to start physical therapy again so that may cut into a few things. Have a great weekend!

  8. I’m so glad to hear that Mittu is finally doing better and able to get back to church. It’s nice to feel things getting back to normal!

I’d gladly take two Chick-fil-A biscuits! They are good. I love their iced lemonades but didn’t get any this summer because they are so high in sugar.

I’m glad your critique group was able to meet weekly throughout the summer. I can imagine those help get the creative juices flowing!

My week wasn’t quiet but a big hurdle is over with now and I’m very relieved. Have a great weekend, my friend!

  9. So glad to hear the family is finally getting back to good health. That is a long time to be sick. If we ever get to the States I have got to try Chick-Fil-A. The older I get the more I love quiet weeks. It’s great to have a group to belong to that shares your same passion.
