Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

I’m joining Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story to share some blessings from the week.

1. A Medieval Faire. I’ve wanted to go to one of these for years. This one was about an hour away from us, but so much fun. It had a Robin Hood theme, Human Battle Chess with characters from Robin Hood lore, a (very fake, but fun to watch) jousting tournament, various performers, and vendors. Many of those who came dressed up as well.

2. Medical phone calls done. I don’t know why I hate these so much. 🙂 They don’t take long to accomplish. But it felt good to take care of them in one sitting. I’m still waiting for a reply to one . . . but at least the ball is in their court.

3. French toast for one. I rarely make this, as it’s a little more involved and a little much for a regular breakfast. But I was in the mood for something different and came up with this. It was just for one because Jim usually eats breakfast before I do.

4. Connect Four group. Our group of four ladies from church had our third get-together, this time at Zaxby’s. I enjoyed the conversation immensely.

5. Early voting. There was a pretty long line, but not as long as it will be on election day, and it moved quickly.

Bonus: Beautiful fall color. It’s been rumored that the fall leaves would be not quite as vibrant this year because the weather has been so dry (minus the hurricane). But as we were out and about yesterday, I drank in the beauty of many trees.

That’s our week–how was yours?

  1. Ooooh loved the Renaissance Faire photos!! I went to one back in my 20s and loved it. I should look up another 🙂 Some of the people taking part really “get into it” which makes it fun too. I’m with you on phone calls — yuck. I too put them off although, as you said, they usually aren’t really THAT bad once I buckle down to do them. Good for you, getting your vote in. I’m hoping to go a week from today since the early location nearest me will be open then.

  2. Sounds like a wonderful week of blessings. I know how you feel about getting those medical phone calls taken care of. I had a couple of phone calls that I needed to make this week, not necessarily to make appointments, but calls that needed to be made. I felt relieved after having the job done…especially the one I needed to make to our ophthalmologist regarding the amount we owed for my husband’s two eye surgeries this past summer. I was glad I made that call because it turned out that we don’t anything! Praise be to God.

  3. Looks like a fun time at the medieval faire! And the weather looks very nice!
We don’t have early voting in my area. Probably because we are a rural area and not highly populated. Will be glad when it’s over though.
French toast is one of my favorite breakfast items but I rarely make it myself. What a great idea that you have a “connect four” group! So glad you enjoyed your time.
Our colors here are mostly brown. We are in a drought so our color did not show as gloriously as in years past.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  4. The Medieval fair looks like a lot of fun! Robin Hood would be a great theme.

I’ve made french toast occasionally. I really enjoy it but I can’t do it too often because of the syrup carbs. And I’m not fond of sugar free ones. Ah well.

The leaves are looking very pretty now. I’m so glad.

    Have a great weekend.

  5. How fun that you’ve gotten to visit a Medieval Faire. The theme sounds fun, too.

Recipes for one are tough to find! Glad you found something delicious for your craving.

Love that you had such a satisfying and enjoyable foursome. Those are so enriching when they take off, aren’t they?

Good for you getting the voting and medical calls done and done. Enjoy your fall colors!

  6. That faire looks fun! Our oldest daughter just went to a Renaissance Faire with some friends a couple of weeks ago down in the southern Catskills near NYC. she said it was loads of fun.

yummy…..i usually make french toast for Xmas Day. It’s SO good with a little sprinkle of powdered sugar and a drizzle of REAL maple syrup. I like to make it with sourdough bread. glad you could enjoy some!

    Have a wonderful weekend

  7. That fair looked fun. We opted for a postal vote a few years back (during Covid) and we’ve not gone back to voting in person. It’s so easy for us to do it that way. Have a good weekend.

  8. We didn’t make it to the Renn Faire this year (in So Ohio, right on the KY border. I wonder how close your faire was to that one). Usually we are able to go one weekend during the season. Aren’t they fun?

We’ll be voting soon, maybe even on Nov 5th as our precinct isn’t usually all that busy.

Lunches with dear friends is always a fave.

    Have a good week! Willow

  9. The trees here in New England (Massachusetts) don’t seem as vibrant but they are still beautiful.

  10. We have always lucked out that there has never been a line for us when we go vote otherwise I’m sure I’d look into early voting too since our state is finally adopting this practice this year. We’ve been to a medieval faire a time or two and they’re always fun and a little wacky and a great way to spend a beautiful fall day.

  11. We’ve been to a couple medieval faires and have always enjoyed them. French toast is one of my favorite breakfasts but like you rarely make it. Good for you for getting out to the early vote.
