Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

March has felt both long and short. Here we at at the last Friday and FFF of the month. I’m sharing with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story.

1. Shared dinner. Timothy texted one day to ask if his family could bring dinner over. Sure! A few hours later, they brought Salsarita’s to share.

2. Blooming trees. It’s been so nice to see trees blossoming in the neighborhood and around town. Of course, that means pollen is in the air as well. As someone said, there’s a cloud behind every silver lining. 🙂 But I love seeing color come back into the landscape.

3. Back to church. I have not been in a couple of weeks due to the digestive effects of antibiotics. But things have settled down enough that I was able to go Sunday and Wednesday.

4. A different camper. My husband had been contemplating trading in our RV for a camper that is pulled behind a car. The RV is more expensive to maintain with insurance and a service plan (needed in case of a breakdown on the road). Plus, we don’t use it as much as we thought we might. He went to a few places to look and found one he liked, and was able to negotiate the trade pretty much the way he wanted.

4. A new-to-us car. Jim had thought he could have a trailer hitch installed on his car to pull the camper, but found his car wasn’t rated to pull that much weight. At first we thought that would nix the RV trade. But then we discussed trading in Jim’s car for one that would be able to pull the camper. He found a small truck on his first scouting trip to look at what was available. He has always wanted a truck. 🙂 Plus, the cash from trading in the RV, along with trading in his old car, is going to just about pay for the new car. I’m thankful for God’s provision and a husband with a head for handling these things well.

How is your last week of the month wrapping up?

  1. I’m enjoying all the spring blooms as well. So pretty!

That’s wonderful that Mittu and Jason brought dinner over. A nice surprise.

That’s great that Jim was able to make the deals he did. I’ve heard that RVs don’t have very good gas mileage so that will be a help as well.

    Have a great weekend.

  2. What a blessing the way the Lord worked out everything so that Jim now has a truck that he’s always wanted as well as a good deal on the camper!

I’m glad that you were able to attend church this week. It’s always an encouragement to be able to be there, but especially after we’ve been dealing with some difficult circumstances like you have been experiencing.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

  3. Sounds like the trade in arrangements etc worked out well for you. Glad you were feeling well enough to get to church this week. Our neighbours have a very pretty pink cherry blossom tree which we are enjoying at the moment but sadly it is already dropping its blooms. Thankfully pollen has never been something that’s bothered me. Have a good weekend.

  4. I hope your return to more normal activities means you’re done with antibiotics and, hopefully, cellulitis! That’s super about the RV/car/truck exchange. Roomie and I love having a truck around for projects.

I love those serendipitous dinners together. Glad you got one this week.

    • Still on the antibiotics. 😦 It’s healing well, but there is some pesky redness and warmth that just won’t let go. Just about the time I think it’s almost done, it seems to get worse again.

Thankfully, the stomach issues have been minor. I’ve been a lot freer with taking probiotics and prebiotics (last time I was very tentative with them), so I think that’s helping. I may have to go to the stronger antibiotic, which I was hoping to avoid–will probably call the dr. Monday if this is still hanging on. Thanks so much for praying!

      • Thanks for the update, Barbara. I have a friend who’s allergic to most antibiotics and has to have extra tests to find the exact one that’ll work for her. Hope you won’t need the stronger one and, if so, that it does the job!

  5. That’s great news about the truck and camper! We used to have a pop up camper…we had SO much fun roaming around New England and NYS with that thing. We even camped in Canada once. I hope you get much use out of it!

Yay for spring blossoms. None this far north yet although all our trees have buds on them and we are starting to see daffodils and crocuses.

I had to goole Salsarita’s. I had never heard of that. I hope you enjoyed a yummy meal!

Praise God your body is getting used to the antibiotic and you could go back to church.

    Happy Weekend!

  6. Oh my — sounds like you might have some fun travel coming up this summer? I hope so! What a wonderful text, someone asking if they could bring over dinner. I would love that 🙂 Happy weekend!

  7. I love how Timothy and his parents always spend their dinnertimes with you.

Oh, your trade in for the camper sounds like a perfect fit now. And a new truck, too! Well done! Willow

  8. Sounds like you have some more fun camping in your future! My in-laws have had various styles of RVs and campers through the years. They’re in the mid-80s now and last year traded in for an Airstream, something they’ve always wanted. (My f-i-l loves it, but my m-i-l doesn’t. ha) Hope you enjoy your camper and that Jim enjoys having a truck too.
