Somehow this week has flown by even more quickly than weeks normally do. I’m joining with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story to reflect on the good happenings of the week.
1. Dogwood trees in bloom. Sometimes dogwood blossoms fall off pretty quickly, especially if a storm comes through. But these in our yard have been hanging on for several days now. So pretty!
2. Cinderella. The Christian school associated with our church is doing a condensed version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, Cinderella. They had a free open dress rehearsal this week and invited family and church members with the understanding that they might still have some glitches to work out. But everything went great, except for a broken microphone. It was really enjoyable. This is one of my favorite musicals, especially the 1965 version, so I was singing “Ten Minutes Ago” for days afterward.
3. Dinner out with the family. The play got over around dinnertime, so we went to a new-to-us Mexican food restaurant with Jason, Mittu, Timothy, and Jesse.
4. An easy fix. Jim had a busy week, so I hated to add to it by telling him the knob that turns the water flow from the faucet to the shower had broken. But it was a quick and easy fix.
5. Lunch with Melanie is always enjoyable, but seemed especially so this week. I had gift cards to Red Lobster, and was having a hard time deciding between two choices on the menu. Then I saw a listing for a combo of two of several different things–and both items I wanted were available for the combo. So I got some of each! Then we had probably the best waiter we’ve ever had. But most of all we enjoyed the fellowship.
How was your week?

Sounds like a great week of good blessings and now I’m humming the song Ten Minutes ago! I was 5 when that was out and my younger sister Joy, when we were old enough to watch it LOVED it and used to sing that song all the time!!
Happy Weekend, Barbara!
My favorite song from Cinderella is “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful,” but they didn’t perform that one.
The dogwood trees are beautiful. We have a lot of things blooming here in the Lowcountry. God has given us wonderful sights to behold. Have a blessed weekend! 🙂
It’s as lovely time of year! I’m glad we live in the South, where so many things are blooming already.
It was an especially lovely lunch this time! And the food was very good!
The dogwoods are so pretty this year! I’ve often thought of driving the dogwood trail in Knoxville but don’t know that I’ll get to it this year.
Cinderella was one of my favorite Disney classics growing up. It’s great that you were able to see the play at your church’s school. I never did see the Roger’s and Hammerstein version.
Have a great weekend!
So far we haven’t driven down the dogwood trail, either, but we’ve seen a lot of them around town. Ours are still holding on to their petals–I think this must be a record.
Those trees are very pretty. I hope they hang on a little bit longer. How nice to be able to see the play for free and then eat out too. Glad the shower was an easy fix – we would probably have needed a plumber lol. Have a good weekend.
I was thinking the faucet and knobs and everything would have to be replaced in the shower. But the faucet is separate from the knobs and just unscrewed from the shower wall. I never thought about how it was attached before, but I am glad that all that was involved was replacing that piece.
Love your flowering trees! Here, we have lots of flowering pears, which I guess are now considered invasive/bad — but they are so pretty when they flower, hopefully within a week or two now. I too love that “Cinderella,” and now I have “10 Minutes Ago” in my head — “In My Own Little Corner” too 🙂 I’m hungry now thinking of your Red Lobster. Related to your comment at my place earlier this week — I liked your comment about wisdom “crying out” and have thought of that several times this week!
I loved “In My Own Little Corner,” too. My favorite was “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful,” but they didn’t perform that one. At my college, they had “White Glove”cleaning weekends twice a year before big events on campus where lots of visitors were expected. The campus radio station would play some from musicals like Cinderella and Camelot. I got to know the music from Camelot long before I saw the film. But those kind of songs provoke fun memories.
Dogwoods are so pretty. I remember the first time I saw them in TN (Knoxville). And then I had one in my garden in Oregon.
Lovely lunch time with Melanie. Having a good waiter is definitely a blessing.
Your Jim is a great handyman. Another blessing. Have a good week! Willow
That tree is so pretty! How nice that you and Melanie could get together for lunch. I love Red Lobster! Happy Sunday!
HOW did I manage not to see your FFF post?
Knowing your affinity for pink, I think the lovely dogwoods are a perfect tree for your garden. They are truly lovely.
I didn’t know there was a Rodgers and Hammerstein version of Cinderella! How fun to enjoy it together and dinner afterwards.
How nice to get a meal with both the things you love. Good waitstaff makes all the difference — glad you had a great one. And time with Melanie!
Those trees are stunning! I don’t believe we have dogwoods around here but we get a similar effect when the crab apple trees blossom. How fun to see the musical and go for dinner to a new Mexican place. Glad the faucet was an easy fix. A great waitstaff makes the meal out even better. Nice that you got both of what you wanted.
