We’re not only nearing the end of the week, but also the end of the month. I’m not eager to transition to summer: I’d like for spring to stretch out a bit more. I know summer doesn’t officially start until June 20, but I always think of summer being from June through August. But we don’t really have a choice about how long a season is. We can only take a day at a time and pause along the way to take notice of the blessings God bestows on us. I’m doing that today with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story.
1. End-of-school-year party. Timothy completed fifth grade, so we got together to celebrate with Mexican bowls (seasoned chicken, Mexican rice, and toppings) and banana cream pie (all made by Mittu).
2. Memorial Day. I am thankful for those who fought and died for our country.
3. A long weekend. We had the kids over for my husband’s scrumptious grilled sou vide burgers along with the usual cookout accoutrements.
4. An $8.99 coupon for a haircut, which I used this week.
5. Dinner outing. When I came back from my haircut, it was nearly dinner time. We talked about whether to bring something in, but then decided to go out to Texas Roadhouse. Everything was great. Then we went to get the rest of the plants we needed to finish out our planters and flower beds. We could see storm clouds on the horizon, which I assume were responsible for the delicious cool breeze as we looked at plants. We got home well before the rain. It was a pleasant evening overall.
How was your week?

That is a GREAT deal for a hair cut. I pay over twice that!!
The evening outing sounds fun and enjoyable. I still need to get some more flowers for pots and am hoping to get that done sometime early next week. Sadly, one of my new plants died while we were in Albuquerque. I think it just got too water logged. (NY had a LOT of rain while we were gone..and it’s supposed to rain again tomorrow!!). I don’t think we are in a drought any longer!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and congrats again to Timmy!!
Have a blessed weekend! π
Timothy is growing so fast! Congrats to his completion of 5th grade.
My “garden” consists of one rose bush which I’m trying to keep alive. I love to see what other people do with their yards.
It is hard to believe that we’re at the end of May. I’m not looking forward to the heat of summer either but such as it is!
A $8.99 coupon for a haircut sounds amazing! And the dinner out and plant shopping afterwards sounds so nice. Congratulations to Timothy for completing fifth grade…it’s hard to believe he’s that old already.
Sounds like a good week and a great deal on your haircut. Costs way more than that here in London. Our schools don’t finish until mid or even late July but the kids have had this week off for a mid-term break. Have a good weekend.
Sounds like a really nice week. My grandkids in Wisconsin finished school today. The two in Colorado have been out for a week already! I wish Spring could linger a bit longer, too. It’s so nice seeing everyone’s flowers out in our neighborhood. I got a late start, but I’m almost finished.
End of spring here, too **sob**
I like the sound of that Mexican supper and may have to give it a shot. Your description of plant shopping with cool breezes, getting home before rainfall… that is such a dream! Glad you squeezed in a couponed haircut, too.
I’m with you on how you think of the timing of the seasons. Congratulations to Timothy. I can’t believe he’s already done grade 5! I can’t even remember the last time I paid that small amount for a haircut. Sounds like you day was fun with the haircut, dinner and flower shopping.
