Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

Whew, this week has been a blur. Thursday, as I write this, is my first day all week without something scheduled. I thought I’d get a lot done at home today; instead, I’ve been wiped out and took a nap. 🙂

Thankfully, much of the busy stuff has also been good. I’m sharing highlights with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story.

1. First birds in the birdbath. Some had perched on the side before; one had taken a drink. But finally a couple of birds splashed around in there. That was fun to see.

2. Wildflowers. The ones Jim planted from seeds around Mother’s Day are blooming nicely.

3. Father’s Day. We enjoyed celebrating my husband and the son who is also a father by getting the family together for lasagna and presents. Mittu made lemon pound cake.

4. Timothy. Jason and Mittu asked if we’d watch Timothy Monday night so they could go on a date. They brought pizza as well. We worked on the Lego-type camper van they had given Jim a while back. Then Timothy showed us how to use his 3-D printing pen. I’ve mentioned before that he likes tornado sirens. I am amazed by how much he knows about them. He was telling us all about where Knoxville used to have theirs and even knew what brands they were.

5. Appointments done. I see my cardiologist twice a year and just had one of those appointments this week. Then I also had the appointment to apply for my Real ID. Both went well, and I am very glad to have them behind me.

Happy first day of summer! How was your week?

  1. Your cosmos flowers are beautiful. The library gave out seeds last year and the grandkids and I planted them. Glorious cosmos emerged last year and came back this year. I love how God gives us wonderful sights to enjoy. Glad all went well with your doctor appointment. 🙂 Have a blessed weekend!

    • Last year we got packets of mixed wildflower seeds, but the cosmos was almost the only thing to bloom–it seemed like it was so tall, it the other flowers were blocked from the sun and didn’t come up. This year we got separate wildflowers seeds of different heights–but it looks like the same thing is happening. They are pretty. I like seeing them from my kitchen window.

  2. For some reason the birds have never really been attracted to our bird bath, so I doubly appreciate your excitement at seeing them in yours splashing around!

The wildflowers that Jim planted are beautiful. I love that shade of pink, especially.

Timothy reminds me so much of our grandson at that age. He surely sounds like a very intelligent young man.

I know you are glad to have both of those appointments over with now. I have an appointment with my NP coming up the first part of July and I will be glad to have that over with.

  3. It’s always a blessing to get necessary appointments done. We got our Real IDs a few years ago when they first became available but honestly we usually just grab our passports to travel outside NYS.

LOVE the wildflowers…mine are just starting to come up. We’ve had a very rainy spring but today is the perfect Summer day. I know by Sunday we wil be in the 90s (NOT A FAN!!) so my windows will need to be shut again and the central air turned on for a few days but hopefully we will get back to the 70s and 80s.

LOVE that you can babysit for your grandson and do fun things with him.

    happy weekend!

  4. I love watching the birds. Unfortunately my new house doesn’t have much activity. I need to work on that. Your flowers are beautiful.

Glad you got to spend time with Timothy! 🙂

  5. I got my Read ID as well. I’m so thankful for appointments! The place was packed!

So cool to see the birds using the bird bath and the blooming wildflowers are so pretty.

Timothy is such an interesting young man to spend time with! Tornado sirens are a very unusual topic to be interested in. But not for Timothy!

  6. Love your cosmos! They are on my radar now since last summer I gathered dead bulbs from those at 2 places in England, planted the seeds, and they’re coming up well. No blooms yet, but I’m sure you’re a couple of weeks ahead of us. Father’s Day sounds wonderful, as does the babysitting during the date. And appointments knocked off are always a plus! Have a good weekend.

  7. Your flowers look very pretty. Nice that you could celebrate Father’s Day together with the family and that you had a nice evening with Timothy. I’ve thought about getting a bird bath but not sure it wouldn’t interfere with the grandkids games of football – maybe in another couple of years when we’ll be sending them over to the park to play. Have a good weekend.

  8. Your flowers look fantastic. Jeff has a cardiology appointment every couple years and this year also had to have a CT scan. Hope to hear results next week. We don’t expect any news we didn’t already know, but I’m still glad they keep a watch on the heart murmur he has. Hope your appointment went well.

  9. Cosmos is one of my favorite flowers! Yours are beautiful. My cosmos didn’t come back this year as prolifically as usual. Time to buy more seeds.

Glad to year your appts went well.

    Have a good week!

  10. Clearly, cosmos love your garden! How lovely that they’re your favorite pink tones, too. I’ve grown them easily in previous gardens, but they do not love it in my current one.

It takes a little bit for birds to find your bathing accommodations, but when they finally do, they remember. How lovely that you are starting to see them using the birdbath!

Great. Now I’m looking up GF lemon pound cake.

How sweet to have an evening with the ever-inquisitive Timothy 🙂

  11. I love those wildflowers! How fun to see the birds using the birdbath. I’ve never been able to have one because we’ve always had cats but I may look into getting one now that we no longer have one. I love how Timothy knows so much about tornado sirens. Just goes to show how unique each individual’s gifting from God is. And now I’m craving lemon pound cake. Yum!
