Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

It’s been a full week! I’m jumping right in with its blessings, along with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story. Feel free to join in!

1. Family time. My oldest son is here from RI and my youngest took a few days off. Jason had to work but has a more flexible schedule. We’ve enjoyed lots of talking, laughing, feasting, and game-playing.

2. Jeremy’s birthday. I’m so glad he could be here for it!

3. My birthday. My family made it a very special day.

Note to self–close the door to the garbage can cabinet before pictures. 🙂

3. Guys camping trip. All the guys except Jesse went camping Monday through Wednesday. Mittu went up for a while Monday, and she, Jesse, and I went up Tuesday and enjoyed Jim’s grilled burgers. They had a lovely campsite near a lake.

I didn’t want to do the full camping experience for a number of reasons, but I also felt a little left out of the time together. But maybe with all the health issues of the last few weeks, it was good to have a quiet day at home Monday.

4. Timothy’s thank you card. Timothy loved the camping excursion, especially fishing with Granddad. Mittu drew this picture and Timothy wrote a thank-you note inside to Jim for taking them camping.

I love that she included the little bat (on the left) who flew into the grass of their site, yelped, and died.

5. Power restored. Our power went out about 1:30 this morning. The community Facebook group said it was due to a wreck involving a telephone pole. I was pleased to see many people post comments about praying for those involved in the accident. Thankfully, the temperatures weren’t bad without AC, and Jim has a lot of camping devices to help. Power was just restored a short time ago (thus the lateness of this post).

And that’s it for us! We have a few more days together, and we’re going to enjoy them thoroughly!

How was your week?

  1. I just love that photo of your grandson fishing!! That should be framed! it’s just beautiful. It reminds me of a Norman Rockwell one my husband has hanging above his dresser.

The card Mittu drew is adorable and i think it’s absolutely wonderful that they are teaching T to write thank you notes to his grandpa. That is a huge blessing. Our family (husband, 2 daughters and me) used to LOVE camping. Until I hit 50. 🙂

Happy birthday to you! and to your son Jeremy. Enjoy all the family time and have a blessed weekend

  2. Hi Barbara and Happy Birthday to you and your son! I enjoyed the picture and Timothy’s card was great! I am glad you could visit the camping a bit. Good to know that you have to take care of you too! Have a great weekend. I did not notice the trashcan until you mentioned it.

  3. I love that you and a son have a birthday close together! I just can’t do camping. We tried once when the girls were about 1, 3, and 5, and I’m still recovering from that 🙂 So nice though that Timothy and Grandpa could fish together etc. And I do get how you’d feel a bit sad on missing out. I think Mittu should look into illustrating children’s books. That’s seriously good! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  4. Your post is chock full of happiness and excitement – well, except maybe the power outage. I’m so glad that most of the guys were able to go camping and that you and Mittu were able to join them for a short while. Lots of birthday cake there!

Happy Belated to Birthday to Jeremy and to you!

  5. Wow, it’s not often you get all your boys in one room over a couple of days. How lovely to have good family time together. Love that fishing photo and the adorable card Mittu drew.

Love the family birthday pictures. Love them!

  6. What a fun time to have together as a family! Happy belated birthday to Jeremy and to YOU! And I am glad that the guys were able to have that camping trip together. I know how badly you felt when they declined to go before when you were having health issues. That spot where they camped is beautiful…so serene.

Enjoy the remainder of your time with Jeremy while he is here.

  7. The picture of your grandson is wonderful. Mittu is very talented. It is nice to see prayers offered after a tragic accident. We had a very terrible car wreck in my town. It involved two teenagers and there was a fatality. The fb comments are so judgmental.

  8. Wow, Mittu drew that? Is there nothing that lady is not good at? Happy birthdays all around. How nice that you could be together to celebrate. I know how you feel about not going. Nice to have a day to one’s self but also not so nice to miss out on the fun.
