Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

It’s been a busy week, but a good one. I’m just a little behind where I wanted to be with Christmas preparations, but God has blessed with health and energy and productive days.

Thanks so much to those who prayed for my lower back pain. It’s not 100% yet, but it is much improved. I’m still moving carefully so I don’t set it off again.

I’m counting more blessings with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story.

1. Protection. My next-to-youngest sister was in a car accident this week. Another driver cut too close when passing another car and hit my sister’s car from behind, causing it to spin around and then flip over. Miraculously, she walked away from the wreck with no serious injuries–just soreness from the seat belts and being thrown around. The other driver did not stop, but other people did. One got the offending driver’s license tag number. We assumed the driver who caused the accident didn’t have insurance since they didn’t stop, but they did, and someone filed a claim the next day. So hopefully the legal/financial stuff won’t be a hassle. But mainly I am so thankful she was okay–especially after seeing photos of the car smashed and upside down.

2. Flowers.Jim bought these for me last week, and they still look lovely. They’ve opened beautifully.

3. A timely arrival. We had ordered something for my oldest son on Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. It was a large item, so we had it shipped to his place in RI for an early Christmas present instead of shipping it here for Christmas and then to his address. It didn’t show a shipping time during the ordering process, but afterward I got a notice of an almost two week time span it could be delivered–and part of that time, he was going to be here rather than there. We figured, between neighbors and friends coming to feed his cat, someone would bring it in. But I was still concerned about it. I was relieved to hear it arrived while he was still home.

4. Back to church. I mentioned being thankful for live streaming services last week. But it’s especially good to be able to be back in the services and Bible study.

5. Christmas music .BBN Radio plays Christmas music throughout December, and I have a good collection on my phone. I’ve enjoyed listening while wrapping presents, making cards for the family, and puttering in the kitchen.

I hope you have a good week and a very special Christmas!

  1. oh Praise the Lord your sister wasn’t seriously hurt or killed!! WOW! If that happened here in NYS, the driver would be charged with hit and run and face losing his license. (yup, we are STRICT up here).

It’s wonderful to be in church in person but I too am thankful for online services when the weather is super bad or I’m not feeling well or traveling and can’t be there in person. It’s a huge blessing. In fact, if you aren’t busy around 2 pm 3:30 pm or 5 pm on Xmas Eve, you can watch me in the Christmas choir for our live service which will be available on our website.

    website: https://gracefellowship.com/

then click on “campuse” then Latham Campus” or even easier click on “watch” then “Watch live”. If you click on sermons you’ll just get to Pastor Rex’s past sermons.

I’m glad the delivery arrived to your son’s home!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebrating with your family and thanking the One we adore!

  2. I’m so glad to hear that the claim has been filed with insurance concerning your sister’s accident. I’ve been praying that would be the case. But most importantly, your sister being okay is the biggest relief. Praying that the soreness doesn’t hang on forever.

Those flowers from Jim are beautiful. I love the color!

I’m so glad to hear that the Christmas item arrived at your son’s home while he was still there.

There’s just no substitute for being in church in person, is there? I know how you feel. Our services aren’t live streamed, but the audio is recorded and posted to our church website by evening…unless someone forgets to turn the sound on. 🙂

  3. Sorry to hear about your sister’s accident. Hope she’s doing ok and the insurance side of things will be straightforward. Glad your back is improving. Mine is doing much better. Deliveries can definitely be a bit hit and miss this time of year so I’m sure you were relieved that your son’s present arrived ok. I’m still waiting for one of the Grandson’s present despite paying extra for next day delivery! Hopefully it will arrive on time otherwise I might be doing some last minute shopping. Have a lovely Christmas.

  4. Wishing you all a really nice Christmas! The flowers are lovely; what a pretty/spring-like color. WOW your poor sister; that sounds very scary. I’m so glad someone got the license number of the person who caused it. A few weeks ago someone hit/broke/knocked off my side-view mirror in the grocery parking lot. I came out just as it happened and they begged me not to file with insurance. There were some anxious moments but they did bring by a check for most of the cost. Oh my. I’m so glad you’re feeling mostly better! I’ll continue to pray. I can imagine that it feels so nice to be back to church after some weeks away.

  5. Praise God for His protection with your sister’s accident! I’m glad that she’s okay, except sore and that the other driver has insurance.

That’s great that Jeremy’s gift arrived before he left to come down to you.

I’m glad to hear that your back is feeling better. Back pain can be so frustrating, especially with holidays and company.

Lovely flowers! So pretty and such a thoughtful hubby.

  6. Where did your husband get your lovely flowers?? I was going to hint around to my husband. Ha. I’m hoping Costco…

Thanks, Renee PS So amazing about your sister!

  7. Hi Barbara, I am glad your back is feeling better. I am also glad your sister is okay and that a claim has been filed. Good that the delivery was made while your son was still home. I am a bit behind in wrapping but I will get caught up. The season goes by so quickly! My grands are in a performance today so I better get ready. Merry Christmas!

  8. Oh my, I am thankful that your sister is ok after that accident! And I’m glad the driver is being held responsible for what he did.

Good news too that the package arrived before your son left.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
