I am glad we live in the age of technology that we do, and I am glad for the neat gadgets we have. But sometimes one little glitch can make all of our cool technology inoperable. This little part on my son’s computer wasn’t working and he couldn’t access his laptop for two days.

It’s the part where the power cord is plugged in. Something was blocking the opening, the computer couldn’t be recharged, and once the battery ran out — that was it. It was a non-standard part, so he couldn’t just walk into any electronics store and buy a new one. He found one online for $20, but it would take a few days to get here. Time was of the essence since he uses his laptop for work and needed the data there. He called a friend of my middle son who has a great knack with computers, and he offered to change the part from this nonstandard one to a standard one. The laptop was no longer under warranty or service contract, so they were okay with taking it apart. He got it fixed in one day, and it works fine now.

“It’s the little things” is still true. ๐Ÿ™‚

(My son posted more about it for his photo hunt here.)

  1. I do get very frustrated at technology these days but am still thankful for it! hehe…

The my son turned it into a photo of my son due to a plugin I’m using that converts “my son” into the mouseover with his photo within my blog posts. Not sure how to get it to not work in comments LOL It works for my husband, daughter, cat, dog, etc… I love that plugin! Yes, technology!

  2. That’s the only thing with today’s technology. One little part goes out and you can’t do anything till it’s fixed and you have to order things.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I tell you, Barbara, the “little” things become HUGE when they cause problems. Right now, I’d sell my favorite pair of Old Navy pj’s if someone, ANYONE, could figure out why I have no sound on my computer. So many wonderful Josh Groban songs, no sound. Sigh……it’s just sad.

  4. Wow, such a little thing can cause such big problems! That’s technology for you…glad to hear it’s all fixed! Happy hunting ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. It can be so annoying when technology goes wrong. It’s so hard sometimes to figure out what went wrong. I hate having to spend big bucks to find out what is wrong. Thanks for sharing.

    Have a great weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Yep, the little things can certainly cause bigger problems! Glad to hear your son was able to have his computer fixed quickly.

    Have a good weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. No matter how great technology gets it still needs the hands of a human to make it work right! Great take on the theme!

My tangled technology is posted. Happy Saturday!

  8. I’m glad your son got his laptop working again. It’s too bad they don’t have a store that stocks all this stuff. Good post.

  9. Oh, I love modern technology as long as everything runs smoothly! I am only an user and can’t figure these things out ๐Ÿ™‚
    Happy saturday!

  10. Talk about frustrating, huh? I think we agree that while technology can be great….oh my, the problems and annoyances it can cause! Glad your son got his problem fixed.
Thanks for stopping by my place.

  11. NOTHING frightens me more than when my computer fails to work like I expect it! lol…I finally got brave this past Fall, and took the side panels off of my tower and try and insert a DVD burner! I wasnt able to, but I sure was in a panic. I wish I knew one person who could help me…but I am the most knowledgable in my close family and friends, and I am NOT…lol..please visit my photo hunt!

  12. What’s the only thing worse than a $20 widget that fouls up the works? Any widget at any price that YOU CAN’T FIGURE OUT!!

Most of us have love/hate relationships with our computers. I know I do!

    Thanks for stopping by, Barb!

  13. I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for coming by my blog today!! I dont think I have ever seen you come by before. I LOVE new visitors!! Please come back again anytime!! I love technology…but ONE little piece is all it takes to make it mess up and then having to wait well that is awful!!
    Again come back…Sandy

  14. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I’m glad your son’s laptop is working and thankful I’m married to a tech for when mine breaks down.

  15. How smart to know how to fix it – I would have had to take it to a repair store & probably pay a fortune ๐Ÿ˜ฆ thanks for visiting us. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Iยดm sorry for being so late this week โ€“ Iยดve got a bad coldโ€ฆ so Iยดm hunting out of my bed =)
Incredible how much annoyance such a small thing can cause…

Please visit mySPSH #5 – thank you =)

  17. You’re right that technology can be such a blessing, but at times it can be a real pain…especially for non-techie people like me. I treat my computer like my car…I don’t care how or why it does what it does, I just want it to work!

Thanks for stopping by my WW!
