I was looking for this painting a few weeks ago when I posted the words to “That One Lost Sheep.” I saw it somewhere a long time ago, only I think it was a full color painting. I love the expression of both the shepherd and the sheep — the gratefulness and love of the shepherd, the contentment of the sheep just melting into the shepherd’s care.
I found this by searching Google images for “shepherd hugging sheep,” but I didn’t find the name of it or the artist. I tried searching on a couple of Christian art sites, but couldn’t find it there, either. Does anyone know anything about it?
Luke 15:
3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

I’ll be interested to find out what information you can find it. It is quite a compelling picture..I hope you don’t mind that I downloaded so that I could print it out and put it up in my office.
This is a wonderful picture. I may print it and put it in my Bible!
HI I know the answer to this one! It’s “Jesus and the Lamb” by Katherine Brown. You can find it on this site : http://christcenteredmall.com/stores/art/brown/jesus_and_the_lamb_color.htm
I tried to paint it on a rock for my daughter. Of course it didn’t turn out as nice as the original! 🙂

Thanks so much, Flora!

I love the way He loves each and every one of us

I found a framed print of this image a few years ago at a flea market and subsequently found out about the artist. To me this is one of the most beautiful and comforting images of Jesus I’ve ever seen. It is hanging over my bed and it gives me joy and comfort everytime I look at it. Glad to see that others have found it, too!
Hi. I just found this framed print at a second hand store. I did not realize that it was Jesus until I googled the artists name. Its signed Katherine Brown 1982 on the reverse side.
Several years ago, At Bible study one of the Lady’s had shared this picture with us. The way she was given the picture inspired me to also share it with many of my Sisters in Christ, and friends both Female and Male. When they have lost a love one, or going through so many heartbreaking situations . They also have found comfort in me relating the story that was
shared with me. When My friend had lost her Mother, the person that gave her the picture said put this in your bedroom and remember that, When you see the scar on Jesus hand, and he also must of been hurting because he had come to earth as a human,. Still Loved and cared so much for the hurt lamb(us) that He picked the lamb(us) up and held him close to His heart. We are Jesus’s lambs. He will hold as tighter when we are hurting then any other time. No matter how many time He has felt the hurt in His heart. He will never leave or forsake us:
