Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: High

This wasn’t what I was originally thinking about for “high,” but once I came across it, I just had to use it.

One of my sons has been counting calories, and he had done so well and had so many calories left after dinner one day that he splurged and went out to his favorite coffee shop to get dessert. He got a piece of chocolate cake, but it was so rich he could only eat about half of it. He looked up the nutrition information online afterward, and it was a whopping 1,400 calories!! Here is the half that was left, or about 700 calories worth.

1400 calorie cake

And it sits there looking so innocent.

Chocolate cake is high in calories anyway, but I don’t know what they did to this to make it that high!

And now for a more traditional  look at something high:

This the clock tower downtown, picture borrowed from my son.

Come over to TN Chick‘s place to join in on the fun.

  1. Oh goodie! I get to be first to comment! No more HIGH calories for me after over-indulging in chocolate over Easter. Man that loods gooooooooodddd! Love the clock tower. Have a great weekend. 😀

  2. Interesting take on ‘high’ with the high calorie chocolate cake and I know the clock tower is supposed to a red bricked structure but those bricks look chocolate too in the photo! ;b

  3. What a clever take on the theme with the high calories!! and beautiful pic of the high tower.
    Happy PH and happy weekend!

  4. Oh dearie… I love choc cakes, brownies, etc. and didn’t imagine they pack such high calories… No wonder I’m growing sideways… LOL.

  5. Barbara, I´m sorry the amazing photo of the high clock tower will not get the attention it deserves from me, because….

    …. I. Want. That. Leftovers.

    Pretty please. 😉

Oh, those pregnancy hormones… did your son get the cake at your local SB store? Their chocolate cake is one of my favorites right now. Did you say 1,400 kcal???? *LOL*

    Happy Hunting!

  6. I’m torn… Chocolate Cake or Clock? Chocolate Cake or Clock? I love them both! Hmmm. Who cares what time it is, give me the Chocolate Cake!!

  7. Well, of course, knowing me….I’d love a sample of that top photo! LOL High calorie content or not! And the angle of your clock tower photo is terrific.

[I hope you CAN find the owl…what a photo op that would be, huh?]

  8. Barbara, i don’t count calories, perhaps I have to start doing that now. But with that slice, I won’t even think about it 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

  9. Yikes 1400 calories. That is high and about 200 more calories than I should eat a day! Have a wonderful weekend Barbara…

  10. Those are great photos….it’s amazing what changes you can make when you do count calories…..I often say to mayself when I look at a dessert do I want my calories with a piece of cake or another glass of wine….lol…

  11. I like your clock tower – but the chocolate icecream… mmmmh. Out of this world. My first thought upon seeing it was of a different high: eating that would make me feel high!! 😀
    Happy weekend!

  12. Oh, my! That cake looks so delicious! 1400 calories is a LOT of calories. Wow!

Thanks, again, Barbara, for stopping by the creek this weekend. Hope you are having a perfectly delightful day. Blessings!

  13. Hi Barbara, I love chocolate too.. I need to count my calories one day and see where I stand on my daily count…The clock tower is awesome…. thanks for your visit to my place today..

  14. I often opt for a dessert at a restaurant if I can get 2 or 3 to share it. Tuesday night at girls night out we had a 6 layer chocalate cake slice that was much like this with ice cream on the side. I took one layer and about a tablespoon of ice cream and then left half on my plate. It was so very rich. If I make dessert at home, though, I eat way too much over a time period that it stays fresh. Good choice for the theme. And I like the clock tower too.
It is Spring here and I want so badly to get outside and walk but I have to get to breathing better first.

  15. Those innocent looking cake things are fraught with danger for calorie counters. I like the photo of the clock tower too.
Have a good week and thanks for the visit.

  16. oh my favourite! chocolate cake! i close my eyes to the calorie content. 🙂

sorry for late response. thanks for the visit! 🙂

  17. Howdy. Someone asked where I got the cake. I bought it from the coffee shop in my local Barnes and Noble, and it was labeled as the Black Out cake from the Cheesecake Factory.
