I wanted to share a few things I had found while shopping over the last few weeks.
I love these little pillows, but my menfolk got irritated with them on the couch as they tended to slide around or fall off. So I began to look for a basket to put them in and found all the baskets on sale at Michael’s the week before Easter. I really like this set in itself, but I’m not sure I like the pillows in them — I can’t really see the designs like I’d like. But I’ll leave it that way for a while. I like the baskets anyway and will use them even if I change what I put in them. 🙂
This cabinet was included in Hobby Lobby’s 50% off sale of all their wall decor a couple of weeks ago. It was missing its inner shelves, though — a cabinet next to it was exactly the same except it was brown, and it had glass shelves, so I knew it was supposed to have them. When I checked out I pointed that out to the sales clerk, and he gave me another 10% off. I have to tell you, there was a time when I could not have done that. I used to avoid even making returns at stores because I felt intimidated — asking for a “deal” was beyond me. But my husband does that all the time. It used to embarrass me and I’d just walk away when he was “negotiating,” but it’s amazing how often you can get a better deal just by asking politely. I’ll have to ask my husband where to get shelves cut for it. It’s on the floor right now — I haven’t quite decided yet where to put it.
I went shopping at a couple of thrift stores a few weeks ago, and this blue vase was the only thing of interest I found. It was all of 99 cents. 🙂 The Idaho clock was made for us by my husband’s former pastor. My husband’s family moved to Idaho when he was in his early teens, I think, and the pastor of his church there did woodworking as a side hobby. He has given us several lovely gifts over the years.

What a very nice white cabinet, Barbara! And congratulations on your “improved negotiating skills” ;-)))
Have a great week-end and best wishes from Germany,
Anita
My husband sounds like yours – he embarrasses me at times! I can do deals, but not as good as him! Love those cushions. I’m sure your husband will soon fix the missing shelves in the new cupboard too. What an amazing piece of wood your pastor used for that clock.
Barbara,
You found some lovely treasures! I have the same problem with little pillows. I love them but they tend to annoy some people! 🙂
Your cabinet is precious. I thought I was looking at the door that Alice wanted to go through at first.
Your clock is so unique. Your friend did a great job making that.
You did so well at the thrift store. Good for you for pointing out what was missing!
Blessings,
Gina
I hope you are able to get shelves for the white cabinet soon. You will have fun displaying special items in it.
What pretty finds! Do you like to change things around a lot in your home?
Hey, my men folks get grumpy with my pillows too! My Mom and I need them because we are too short to be comfortable in the couches that they fit into so nicely! How considerate of me to make sure they were big and manly couches, they could have some patience for my cute pillows!
I like your pillows too.
What great finds. I love the clock. Congratulations on your new bargaining skills. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
I like the little cabinet! I would have taken the glass shelves from the other one and then someone coculd’ve gotten a deal on the brown one! Ha Ha! I am like you, I used to be intimidated by “confrontation” but not any more. Another perk of getting older I guess, all the salespeople are younger than me now! Ha Ha! You’ll have to post on a future S&T your cabinet with little treasures inside!
Connie
That Idaho shaped clock is so very unique!!!
My show n tell is shared….come on over.
Great finds. I’m not the best bargain negotiator either. But my husband is & I let him do the talking!
My show & tell is up… vintage bling bling! Do stop by. I love the company.

What great bargains! I love the little baskets. My husband is a wheeler-dealer as well!

My husband is like yours and always asks nicely and gets many, many deals that I would not be brave enough to ask for.
I love the cabinet and like Hobby Lobby when they have great sales. I enjoyed your blog
I wish that I could go shopping with you.
The cabinet is really pretty. It’s going to be so nice when you get your shelves. Also, the basket is a nice idea for the pillows while you are thinking about what you want to do with them. Maybe you can’t enjoy the sentiments but they aren’t totally tucked away where you will forget about them. I think that was a smart idea. Also, I like the color of your new vase, and the price!

Love the cabinet and what a deal! The tiny pillows are so cute.
Your little pillows are so pretty, it’s a shame not to see them better. I can’t think of a way to display them except along the top of the couch-back, if it is up against a wall. I do love the little cabinet.
Nancy
I love the pillows! Especially the creative way you displayed them. Our home is filled with boys, so I totally understand! The cabinet is great also. What a gift to treasure the clock is. Thanks for sharing.
Love the pretty blue vase. What a find!
You can get some great deals at Hobby Lobby when they have sales! Great find. Can’t wait to see what you do with it! Love the idea of puting the pillows in a basket, they look great! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t know Barbara…those pillows look mighty cute in those baskets. Goodness, I wish we did not live so far from big stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby…I love those stores! (also love the fact that Hobby Lobby refuses to open on Sunday!) You got a deal on that cabinet!
Tryin’ to make my rounds this week for the Show & Tell.
If I don’t get back here between now and the beginning of the week…have a great spring weekend.
Hi Barbara, I love your little pillows and would use them to decorate among all of my doll collections.. Your clock is very different and has special meanings behind it.. You got a deal on the cabinet and glass shelves can be made for it.. Thanks for sharing all of your treasures with us..
We had a clock similar to the one that was described as being shaped like Idaho. It was made out of burlwood. Ours looked like a strip of bacon. It was neat to see yours.
The cabinet is my favorite of these. Bravo on asking – and getting – a discount.
Have a great weekend!
[Love the theme – I use the same one. :)]
Guys and pillows, must be the same everywhere!
They always end up tossed on the floor! Great finds!
Hobby Lobby is a great place to find bargins!
Very nice items!
My husband’s like that too. He can really bargain whereas I just accept any price that’s displayed.
My couch pillows always end up on the floor or piled in the rocking chair. I really like them in a basket though….great idea! I love Hobby Lobby!
Hugs,
Kelli
