Theme: Hanging| Become a Photo Hunter
Though this isn’t the most picturesque view of it, this is Spanish moss which hangs from a lot of trees in the Charleston area.
It’s used a lot if floral arrangements, and at the time we visited it was illegal to just pick it off the trees, because then probably too much would be stripped off.
I thought we had a picture of one place we visited that had a stream and a bridge and full, shady trees just dripping with Spanish moss, which was a really pretty setting — but all I could find was this one.
The Saturday Scavenger Hunt is sponsored by TN Chick.

That is such a lovely photo. I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever seen a real photo of it before. I think I’ve only seen it in paintings!
Here’s mine! I’ll bet you never heard of this kind of hanging before!

I didn’t know it was illegal to pull it — I thought it just wasn’t recommended because of the incredible amount of fleas and mites and things that live in it. I know it has to be sanitized before it’s used in floral arrangements. And that once I learned THAT I didn’t think it was quite so pretty anymore! LOL! That is a lovely picture though! I was AMAZED when I saw it actually ON the trees down in Savannah – it’s quite a sight!
Here in the deep south, we have lots of trees dripping with Spanish Moss, and though I’ve lived here my whole life, I’m still captivated by it’s beauty – especially when it is illuminated by the rising or setting sun. Just makes me want to go fix a tall glass of sweet tea!
Have a wonderful weekend, Barbara.
It may not be the picture you had in mind, but it’s still a good one.
Those Spanish Moss hanging from the tree creates a captivating picture.
I’m a bit late for photohunt today… Cool catch for today’s theme… Mine’s up too hope you can drop by… Happy weekend!
I think Spanish moss is so lovely and I like that shot. It has a vintage quality to it which is very appealing.
Spanish moss is beautiful hanging from trees…but if you pick it be wary, it’s full of bugs!!! I was a floral designer for years, used that stuff by the truck loads! I much prefer seeing it hanging in the trees! LOL
Happy Saturday!
I like this photo. The sky behind is lovely with the trees and the moss. Great choice for The Hunt.
I didn’t know it’s illegal either. Great photo!
I have learnt something today; I wasn’t familiar with Spanish Moss, great photo!
Great shot! Too bad you can’t pull it off to use it in hanging baskets.
Interesting stuff indeed. You are right everyone would take it home and the trees would be bare. Have a great week and thanks for visiting.
Lovely photo and that tree look mysterious 🙂
Oh, its illegal to pluck them…Well that’s good so they can be preserved..
Pearl – have a god weekend
This one is good enough, IMO. It’s a lovely tree.
You and I had the same idea! We just moved to FL from CT and I love the look of the Spanish Moss.
Very pretty photo!
Nice choice for the theme, I have photos like this but did not think of using it.
Beautiful tree!
Nice… and I would agree they likely don’t want people to take it as there’d be none left! The bridge photo sounds nice, too.
