Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Bridge(s)

Theme: Bridge(s) | Become a Photo Hunter

When I saw this category months ago, I was excited because I had just the bridge in mind — one I had seen on the way to my son’s friend’s house, with a creek running over some rocks and a neat old shack. But when I passed that way last week — there was no bridge at all! Evidently my mind had just put one there! Too bad — it would have made a really nice picture!!

I didn’t have make the time to go bridge-hunting this week around town, so I went hunting through my photo archives.

It seems like I might have shown this before, but I couldn’t find it: this is a really pretty bridge at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, SC, from our visit there over 25 years ago.

A much nicer picture of it is here.

I know I have used this one before, I think for “lights,” but I like it πŸ™‚ and it fits here as well. This is a footbridge from a hotel to a gazebo-like structure at the end of a pier on Folly Island in Charleston. This is from a second visit to Charleston maybe eight years ago.

These are from my oldest son’s wanderings downtown:

Here is a view from a bridge:

Though I like to look at “pretty” bridges, I am thankful for the many functional, utilitarian ones that greatly facilitate our travels.

Sometimes, though, bridges don’t just make life easier. There are some places we could not reach at all except for bridges. The most important place like that is heaven, and you can read more about the bridge that makes it possible to go there here.

  1. A very nice selection of bridges ! I had some difficulties to find pictures too, we don’t have a lot of bridges here in Waterloo.

  2. I agree about functional bridges πŸ™‚ I fancy that first photo, it looks so peaceful there πŸ™‚

    Happy weekend!

  3. Great collection of different bridges in this post. I think I like that last one best too. Very interesting.

    Happy weekend to you.

  4. I’ve been once to Charleston but, somehow, missed the two places in your photo! (Instead, among other things, made a beeline for The Citadel to watch a parade by the cadets there!) ;b

  5. You have some very nice bridges there! I love that night one that your son took! (of course I do!) But they are all good! I always HOPE for a train when I’m looking for one — but they never come!

  6. I love that bridge over the RR tracks. So quaint.

I have a horrible fear of bridges. It is the wierdest thing and has been with me since I was a child. I don’t mind small ones like that RR bridge of course. But the huge ones do me in! I almost have panic attacks. When I went to Key West a few years ago there was a 7 mile bridge that sent me over the edge. It was awful.

So there you go … my deep dark secret πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming to visit me. You have a great weekend!

  7. Great collection you got there. I like the second shot – love the lights during the nigh time – wonderfully captured. Happy Weekend!

  8. Very nice collection of bridges. I love them all but esp. the Folly Island one.

Thanks for visiting mine and have a great weekend!

  9. You have a lovely collection of bridges there! I am intrigued by your imaginary bridge – it’s so fascinating the way the mind can play tricks on us.

  10. LOL. I’ve done that before where I swear I’ve seen something at a place before and then go back and can’t find it. Great pics. Love the one over the tracks.

  11. Great collection of shots! πŸ™‚

I love the first one – it feels like walking in to a fairytale …

Mine is up! Take a look!
    Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  12. You asked me about my lace yesterday? I have added some links in my fave friday post, if you’re interested you can check them out, okay?

  13. Great sequence of shots for bridges and I agree with being grateful for the functional ones. I like all types of bridges.

  14. That’s a lovely selection of bridges. I love the angle of the first one. It looks like a nice setting for a romantic movie. I like the second one too. Another romantic spot where proposals can take place. πŸ™‚
