Friday’s Fave Five

FFF fall leaves 2

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts a “Friday Fave Five” in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Click on the button to read more of the details, and you can visit Susanne to see the list of others’ favorites or to join in.

1. My semi-annual clothes switch. We have pretty small closets in this house, so twice a year I have to switch out seasonal clothes between the attic and the closet. Though I like my spring/summer clothes better, seeing the fall/winter ones again are like seeing old friends. It’s almost like having something new to wear.

2. Finding my purple dress. There was one particular dress I was looking for this week that’s just good for many occasions and isn’t strictly winter, but I couldn’t find it. It wasn’t in the back of my closet nor in the storage box for off-season clothes. Finally I remembered I had put some clothes in a separate box as there were more than would fit in the old one, so we found the box in the attic last night. I was beginning to be afraid I had accidentally given it away, so I was relieved.

3. Days off from school. Though school was cancelled for a bad reason — about 1/4 of the school was out sick — and that’s not a favorite thing, nevertheless I don’t mind not setting the alarm clocks for a few extra days. And thankfully we have all been well except for a couple of days of sore throats.

4. A mammogram is not a favorite thing, but the fact that it is done for at least another year is. I’ve been supposed to schedule it since last spring but just hadn’t gotten around to it. And since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let me point you to this post at Rocks in My Dryer, where she describes what happens for anyone who might be apprehensive of the procedure. Mine was a bit more uncomfortable that what she describes, but only for a few seconds at a time.

5. An order came in from Pale Pink and Roses, purchased during Make Mine Pink’s Friday Shopping Event.

That little cupboard is just darling. I am going to use it in my craft room but I am not sure exactly how yet. And it is amost impossible to find pink linens in stores here.

That’s it for today — hope you have a great Friday!

  1. Congrats on finding your purple dress! And I love the clothes swap when you put away one season and pull out a different season.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. We are at that very in-between stage in clothes. I still need my summer stuff – but I also need my winter stuff! Sometimes I need to change clothes 3 or 4 times a day! LOL! I hate that! Sometimes I just put shorts and a T on, and then a hoodie over, and a blanket over my legs! Then when I get busy, off comes the hoodie, toss the blanket aside… and then when I sit down and get chilly, back on they go! Craziness! My feet can’t decide if they want socks or not either…

My doc didn’t mention a mamogram this year… WOW! How’d I get out of that!? I’m not complaining… we have NO history of cancer in my family anywhere… (boy, those sound like famous last words… don’t they?)

That’s a cute little cabinet! I’m stilllll looking forward to pictures of your new room!

  3. I feel the same way about mammograms, at least they are done with until next year! I need to schedule mine also
I know what you mean about getting out the new season’s clothes, I always forget what I have. 🙂

  4. The only time I had a truly uncomfortable mammogram, is the only time I had a male technician. He didn’t lower the platform so I had to stand on my tippy-toes, then he clamped me in the dang machine and left me there while he took a phone call from a doctor about another procedure!

I am glad your mammogram is over for the year. Mine is, too! Yay.

That little pink cabinet is way cute.

  5. I’m so glad I don’t have to change wardrobes for the seasons here. LOL I wouldn’t know how to do that. I’m so glad your got your mammogram. I know it isn’t pleasant, so I’ve heard, but so important. Love the pink cabinet. What a great week and my friend, have a great weekend 🙂 Aloha

  6. I still haven’t done the clothes switch and I really need too ’cause it’s, you know snowing and cold. LOL. I’m the opposite of you in that I so love my fall and winter clothes better than the summer.

    Cute little cupboard!

  7. Glad you had that mammogram. I wish they would find a better way for these tests :0)
That’s a lot of sickness at one school.
The little cupboard and linens are very sweet…
    Have a good weekend.

  8. Congratulations on getting your mammogram done, its the right thing to do!

I have not had to switch my closets out yet, its still pretty warm here, but I imagine the time will come soon 🙂

  9. Your little pick cupboard is so cute!
Up until last Fri. we were in the in-between stages with the clothing, but as of last night I think it’s settled in favor of winter. Freezing drizzle, a layer of ice on the deck and seeing the dog we’re watching slipping on it pretty much gave us a clue!
    Thankful for a warm home.

I love hearing from you and will approve your comment ASAP.
