Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday’s Fave Five so we can share our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God gives. Click on the button to learn more, then go to Susanne’s to read others’ faves and link up your own.

1. Celebrating Jason’s 23rd birthday last weekend.

2. Chicken nuggets and frozen French fries. Not the healthiest meal on the planet, but it does make for a nice quick meal on those days when you don’t have much time.

3. An old friend today who is having some serious physical issues asked on Facebook for verses of encouragement. At first I didn’t know what to say considering what she specifically was dealing with, but the Lord laid some things on my heart — I hope they’re an encouragement to her, and they ministered to me as well.

4. More things ticked off the list in getting ready to move — but it seems like for every one checked off, two more spring up in its place. I may not be able to do as much of the sorting and discarding I’d like to before we move — but I guess I can do that there as we unpack.

5. I know I have mentioned AC before, but I honestly don’t think I could have lived without it this week. Even my mother-in-law, who is almost never hot and often wears a sweater, was hot this week.

Gotta run! Catch up with you soon!

  1. Moving is such a job, I promised the kids my next move was to an seniors home.

Glad your checking stuff off the done list.

There is nothing wrong with quick meals every once and awhile

  2. I love your spirit of encouragement! I’m sure you lifted her day. His word, delivered with love, has a way of doing that.

What a job moving is! Hope it keeps coming together for you. I think you’re wise to realize you can do some stuff after the move.

Do people live without AC? :0)

  3. Happy Birthday to Jason.

I don’t think I ever get too old for chicken nuggets and french fries, its such a yummy meal 🙂

  4. We had chicken nuggets and frozen fries last week. With some yummy cherries (I feel better about it if there’s something fresh on the table)! 🙂

  5. AC is definitely on my priority list this week! WHAT a blessing it is!!!

It seems sad to go through the trouble of moving stuff only to throw it away once you get there… but I certainly understand the time factor.

    Happy belated Birthday to Jason!

  6. Happy Birthday to Jason!

I’ve moved many many times and I find that although it’s nice to declutter, etc, before the move, when I am unpacking and looking at my new place, it’s easier to know what can go and what should stay.

Hang in there! You’ll be moved soon!

  7. We have chicken nuggets/chicken strips on a regular basis! My husband and youngest like it with mac & cheese; I’ll put a salad under it with honey mustard dressing!

  8. Moving is a big job. Soon it will be over with and you’ll be in your lovely new house. Hang in there, Barbara!

We haven’t had to use the AC too much yet this year. It’s been a weird one, weather wise. but I sure am thankful for it on those hot days.

  9. yay for encouraging Scriptures! I haven’t had to move in 16 years but I sure do remember the work involved….and yup…here in NYS we have had some VERY hot weather…I am currently in Boston, MA on a college visit weekend with my oldest daughter and wow…Downtown Boston was a scorcher today! Praise the Lord for AC in stores and ice cold water!
