Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. 1. Surprise Snow as the weather forecasters called it Wednesday. It started up in the late afternoon, stopped by nighttime, and the roads were clear with a one hour delay for school.

2. Computer access to libraries. I’ve been able in other places to look up and place a hold on a book online, but the system here even lets me renew a book online.

3. Harvest loaf cake. I usually make this in November or December but just never did this year. But I couldn’t let a winter go by without it! I was craving it and made some mini-loaves this week and sent one to Jeremy. I wasn’t sure how it would do after 2-3 days in the mail, but he said it tasted fine.

4. Back to routine. I love breaks in routine but by the time the break is over I am pretty well ready to get back to it.

5. Notepads. I got this from my dear friend, Carol, just before Christmas, but I just unpacked the box yesterday.

I keep a magnetic notepad on the refrigerator all the time for grocery and to-do lists, and I use the little tab ones to mark places in books I want to remember. Plus I use post-it notes all the time. And to have them all really cute like this is so much fun! I have my January pad on the frig now!

Edited to add: Someone asked me who the artist or designer was for the notepads. I meant to take a picture with the label on, but I forgot. The designer is Debbie Mumm. I did see she had the notepads on her site here but they are out of stock. I don’t know if my friend ordered them online or got them in a store.

They’re forecasting a heap of snow here this weekend — we’ll see. I just made my run to the store this morning, so we’re pretty well set. Already we’ve gotten much more snow here that we did in SC, but I don’t know if that’s normal for TN or if they’re getting more than usual — need to ask the neighbors. But, whether you have snow or sunshine, I hope you have a great weekend.

  1. I was wishing we would get some more surprise snow but I think I’ve since changed my mind. I’m not enjoying being FREEZING cold. Delightful and comfortably cold (40 degrees) is great. Anything below and I’m uncomfortable. =) But I still really like snow. Next year. I think I’d like it next year!

Sounds like your friend Carol gave you the perfect gift! What a cute set.

    Happy weekend!

  2. Hi Barbara! So glad you like the notepad set. : ) I have the January one on my frig., too. I will think of you and pray for you when I use them, how’s that? I sure could use you to do the same for me. Thanks! Hugs!

  3. I love all the note pads. What a great way to keep organized. That is such a sweet and thoughtful gift.
I’m finally getting back into my routine after Christmas break. The break was wonderful, but I like my routine too. Happy Friday 🙂

  4. I’m enjoying the routine of my household again as well. And the online library access is great, isn’t it? Being a homebody, I love that I can do so many things without leaving home.

I’m green with envy over the notepad set. So very cute.

  5. Oh, I just LOVE having online access to my library account. We may get snow on Sunday, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m with you on the routines—I love the breaks, but I was ready for my routine again. What a wonderful package from your friend Carol! Notepads are wonderful.

  6. We had a 2 hour delay this morning……it was nice. 🙂
I love all those notepads, I have never seen those before…..very cool.

  7. Here you are celebrating snow while I am so happy to be seeing sunshine for the first time in days1 LOL! The wind is blowing and it is icy cold outside, but there’s also a weak sun shining. I am certain it is only here briefly. the forecast tonight is for snow.

  8. It seems like weather is just plain unpredictable this year. The notepads are a fun treat. I love to make lists. Computer access to the library is great. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. My daughter is headed to North Carolina over MLK weekend. I hope the weather behaves….

  9. Very cute notepads – I got some for Christmas but not a set like that/

I’m glad to get back into routine as well – food too. A lot of eating over the holidays!

we were supposed to get a storm this weekend but the forecast has changed and now it’s just a little snow. So pretty! We had a green Christmas so I’m glad for the snow now.

    Happy weekend!

  10. I do everything at the library online and it really makes it easier for me to read a lot. Those notepads are really cute!

  11. No snow for us in FL, but we had some in Indy a week ago. I know what you mean about the library. Online renewals are great.

I’m going to print that loaf recipe. I made an apple pie that was a hit this Christmas, and I think it was your recipe! (Easy Apple Pie?)

    Have a great week!

  12. I enjoyed hearing about your favorite things this week….I have mailed fruit cake and it did fine…this reminded me, I want to make pumpkin bread and banana bread for my son to send to him as soon as I have an address…I should go ahead and make it and freeze it…thanks.

Oh, you never did show your craft room after you moved…did you get it set up?

    • The craft room is pretty much the last one to be worked on, plus Jason and Mittu stayed in it for several weeks when they first moved here and then Jeremy over the holidays. So it’s the least set-up room of all. 🙂 That’s one of my projects for the next few weeks.

  13. I’m a stationary fiend so I’m totally loving the gift of those notepads. What a great gift from your friend.

I don’t know what I’d do without being able to renew my library books online. I’d be owing a heap of money for sure. LOL.

It’s a crazy snow storm with major blowing around here this weekend. I made a store run too.

  14. The notepads are very pretty! I’m not sure I’ll ever use them if I get such a beautiful set. I’ll probably keep them as a treasured collection.

  15. Those notepads are really pretty! They remind of my stationery-collecting days. Harvest load cake sounds yummy, yummy, yummy 🙂
