Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Click on the button to learn more, then go to Susanne’s to read others’ faves and link up your own.

Here are a few favorites from the past week:

1. Blue skies. It’s still been cold — in the 30s most days — but it has been so uplifting to see blue sky instead of gray overcast.

2. New uses for old things. We talk with my oldest son via “face time” on the iPod 4, but you get tired of holding it after a while, and it’s not easy to prop up. He sent us this business card holder, which works great to hold the iPod while we’re talking.

3. New, eagerly anticipated books —

— even though I already have a stack more than twice that high on my nightstand….

4. Finishing two non-fiction books. It’s unusual for me to have two non-fiction going at a time — they do usually take me a little longer to get through, and I’ve been reading a little here and there from one for months. I enjoyed it, but it felt great to get it finished. I reviewed it earlier this week and hope to have a review for the other one soon.

5. This, in light of Sunday’s big game.

And a bonus — peanut butter Rice Krispie treats with melted chocolate chips on top:

🙂 Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for those who prayed for Jesse — he was doing better yesterday but was sick again this morning. I am praying he is back to normal soon — and that none of the rest of us gets it.

  1. New uses for old things! I love that!

And I love your stack of books.

And I’ve been extremely diligent in the past couple of weeks to eliminate ALL sugar from the diet through the end of April. So I’m not going to look at that picture of your yummy and delicious treat that I’m sure I could DEVOUR right now any longer.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I enjoyed browsing through your stack of books. I just ordered One Thousand Gifts from Amazon. I have no business ordering more books, because my pile of books to read is quite high enough.

  3. Glad to hear you have blue skies!

Love that stack of books. Let me know what you think of the one on top! I love the Acts of Faith series. I’ve read 1 and 2. And mmm…those peanut butter Rice Krispies squares with chocolate on top look wonderful.

Hope you have more blue skies ahead.

  4. I saw Lauraine Snelling in your stack of books. She’s my absolute favorite fiction author. I want to drink a cup of coffee every time I read her books. HA!

Blue skies are always uplifting for me too.

Have a blessed weekend and thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving comments. It made my day.

  5. Like Carrie, I’m not eating sugar (or dairy), so I covered up the photo of the rice krispie treats–lead me not into temptation 🙂
Wow, that’s an impressive stack of books!

  6. Great stack of books! How fun to find a new use for an old item! Hope your son is better by now. It took Katie a long time to get over the ick she had. Happy weekend to you!

  7. Wow, Jesse has been sick for awhile. That must be some bug to keep someone so young and strong down for so long!

I predict that you will enjoy, “An Unlikely Blessing”. I read it in one day. Our church secretary is reading it now and she loves it.

  8. I don’t put my stack of books on my nightstand anymore because they are taking over! LOL. And now I see several from your stack that have me interested. I need hellllp!

We had blue skies today too but unfortunately it came with mega winds.

Way to go on finishing two non-fictions. They are always so much harder for me to finish, too.

  9. Oh I’m staying away from Peanut Butter anything this wee. You have to love Maxine. I love to find uses for things rather than toss them. I’m late getting here this week and it is almost Friday again.

  10. I always have big piles of books. We have a few of the same ones, I see, and I’m probably going to pick up 1000 gifts this week. The business card holder is brilliant! The rice Krispie treat looked pretty fabulous, too.

  11. Oh, that peanut butter Rice Krispie makes my stomach growl. I’ll have to start dinner hunting soon. It’s almost 7 p.m. here. I love that cartoon! I also like the idea of the card holder being used as iPod holder. 😀

I love hearing from you. I've had to turn on comment moderation. Comments will appear here after I see and approve them.
