Hi Barbara, I really liked this one when you posted it on Facebook earlier today. 😀
Ha, ha, ha! Our pastor made a few jokes, too, kinda funny…
:-}pokey
Too funny (in an also-sad kinda way).
Is this your own photo? I haven’t seen any billboards (before, during, or after May 21) in my neck o’ the woods.
No, a friend posted in on Facebook. I am not sure if it is his original photo or of he posted it from something else — I’ll have to ask.
I didn’t really post this as a joke, but rather wanted to leave the impression of the quoted verses, that the point is to be ready and watching for whenever He does come.
I John 3:2-3: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Thanks for clarifying, Barbara. I’ve seen that billboard in several places now, and it strikes me as kind of flippant. But the verses you posted definitely put it in a more sobering context.
I’ve never met you in person, but I feel like I can say from reading your blog that I know your heart wouldn’t be to joke in a scornful way about this, like some have done.
