Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week. This has been a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. Click on the button to learn more, then go to Susanne’s to read others’ faves and link up your own.
Here are a few faves from the past week:
1. Good results from my annual mammogram, plus just getting that over with for another year is a fave as well.
2. Dinner for Six. I think I mention this every time we participate, but it IS a favorite every time. Dinner for 6 is a program at our church where they divide participants into groups of six people who then take turns hosting each other for dinner over the next three months. It’s a great way to get to know people beyond what Sunday morning small talk allows. We had our first dinner with a new group this past Monday and just enjoyed it completely.
3. Framed cross stitch. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago having some great framing coupons at two different stores, so I was able to get my finished cross stitch pieces framed. I just got them back this week and love how they turned out.
Now I just need hubby’s help to hang them up. I really need to learn how to deal with the drill for these things that need more than just a nail to hang upon.
4. An exercise mat. I’ve started the Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout for the Kinect (and I’m feeling it!), but was horribly uncomfortable with any of the exercises on the floor until I got this.
I like how the strap keeps it rolled up and provides a handle as well.
5. Ceiling fans. I’ve mentioned AC on FFF before, but even with that I still sometimes get hotter than everyone else, especially while exercising or cooking. Ceiling fans really help provide extra coolness in the room I’m in so I don’t have to freeze everyone else out and run the electric bill higher by turning the AC down.
Happy Friday to you all!

Glad you got your mammogram over with and that you had good results. Always a favorite. And your new Dinner for Six went well! That’s such a great program. Your cross-stitching is so pretty!
There’s a Biggest Loser “game” for the Kinect!?!? MUST check this out!!!
(Hope you have a great weekend!)
LOVE the cross-stitch! They look beautiful. Congrats on starting the exercise program. I’m proud of you. Maybe you can inspire me to get going again! Have a great weekend!
Hurray for getting your framed pieces back and dinner with friends and fans to keep you cool. You remind me that I need to get a certain appointment made 😦 Your comment about tamales reminded me of a friend who was visiting from the midwest. She saw a sign for Tacos and asked what “take-o’s” were. 🙂 Enjoy your weekend, Barbara.
I saw both of those when you were working on them but not after you finished. I like them both. Where are you going to hang them. I can use a drill but it is still good to have someone to help you so you can look at the picture on the wall before its hung. You know, they hold it up and you step back and say a little lower…more over to the left…yes right there….and then you mark it so you can put the hanger in. but I have resulted to DIY when I just couldn’t wait. A good think to do is cut out a piece of paper the same size as the picture and use this to position it so you know where you want to hang it.
I need to schedule my mammogram(I’ve got the order from the doctor) but life has been getting in the way lately.
Good for you on the exercise front…it just takes getting started and committing. I am walking 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Of course, not until my knee is better, hopefully by tomorrow as it will be my last day to get it in this week. I have done 2 of them already.
Have a blessed weekend,
Mama Bear
Love your cross stitch! Kudos to you on starting an exercise program. I’m just thankful for AC; it’s incredibly hot out there today. Have a great week!
Oh, you’ve just reminded me that I need to go get that mammogram done too.
Those dinners sound like so much fun. How big is your church?
Ugh, I need to schedule a mammogram! I know what you mean by saying you’re glad it’s over for another year!
I’m going to mention the idea for Dinner for 6 to Wes. That sounds like it would be so fun, and it would help us with our personal goal of having people over more often.
Your cross stitch pieces look beautiful!!!! You did a great job stitching them, and the framing just sets them off so well.
I love the cross stitching. It makes me want to start stitching again.
I love the Dinner for Six idea. What a great way to fellowship with fellow church members!
Love your framed cross-stitch pieces!!
Yay on the mammo. On my last one I had to go back for another, then another 6 months later. Turned out to be nothing of concern, thankfully, but I’ve had quite enough of the pancake experience for awhile.
Dinner for 6 sounds really neat.
We don’t have AC, but we do have an attic fan. A little noisy, but it keeps the air moving.
Sounds like a great week. I need to join in on this meme sometime soon.
Glad that your mammogram is over and the results were good- not a pleasant experience but a necessary one.
A church near us did the Dinner for 6 program too – I think it’s a great idea to get to know other people in your church.
Good for you with exercising – I’m doing the same but I’m doing Pilates. Keeps me limber!
Happy weekend!
Hurray for the exercising! I’m starting Jilian Michael’s 30 Day Shred–I hope I can keep it up!
Lovely crosstitches 🙂
I’m glad to know that all went well with the annual mammogram. Those cross stitch in frames are so lovely! And happy exercising!
