Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week,  wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. The week after Christmas is relaxing in some ways, but sad in others as visiting loved ones go home and Christmas decorations come down. It’s sad that it’s over. But it is kind of nice to get the house back to normal and to make plans for the new year. I’m not sure why changing over the year brings about a flurry of organizing and cleaning out, but I’m going with it!

Here are some faves from the past week.

1. A short work/school week.

2. Knowing that there is more daylight since Dec. 21 even though it doesn’t really seem like it yet.

3. Playing games. Jason and Mittu got some expansion packs for their Catan games, and Jesse got a couple of new games for Christmas. It’s been fun to play all together. I’m looking forward to playing more.

4. New officey stuff. I’d been wanting some kind of memo board ever since we set up an office in this house, but was undecided about style and size. I’d thought about making the kind that has criss-crossing ribbons. But then I saw this at W-Mart today, and I like that it has both cork board and magnetic board, and it will fit right under a cross stitch picture I have up. Can’t wait to ask a certain handy hubby to take care of that for me. 🙂

And I was tickled to find pink push pins for the cork board:

5. These:

Also just discovered at W-Mart. My sweet tooth got really overfed over the holidays and I’m needing to get it back under control. These are really good and just 120 calories per pouch. Just enough to satisfy that desire for something sweet and chocolatey but in controlled portions. No, this isn’t a commercial. 🙂 I just really like them.

Bonus: A visitor:

We’ve seen bunnies in the yard occasionally, but this is the first time I remember seeing them right outside the window. I had spilled some bird seed when I refilled the feeder a few days ago, and I guess he found it! It’s hard to get a good picture, though, because he’s pretty skittish — any movement or even the click when I take the camera from its charger makes him jump.

I need to hop away, too, but I’ll be back to visit with you later today. Happy Friday!

  1. Ahhh short work week….love it!! We have more daylight? lol I can’t stand the darker earlier stuff that winter brings. So tired!! Oh how I love office stuff! I love my daycare but I have to say I miss the office life sometime!! I have a desk in my room with a little “office” of my own (after all, you have to be organized with a daycare too) so that helps. That bunny is so cute!!! We used to have a little visitor but since we got our 2nd dog, I haven’t seen any. Have a great weekend!!

  2. The pink push pins definitely make office more fun! I need some kind of board too. Will have to check out our Walmart.

I am very glad it’s been a shorter work week!

  3. I’m a real lover of office supplies so I can really appreciate your purchases this week. This time of year always makes me want to organize as well.

I’ve been thinking about those Skinny Cow candy pouches. Thanks for the low-down!

  4. I have a cork/magnet board in my laundry room and I really like it, I can make notes to myself or pin grocery ads to it, its nice.

Wild bunnies are fun to watch, i always enjoy spotting one.

  5. Short weeks are always a plus, but it is nice to get back into the routine after all the festivities, isn’t it? I like how the days are already getting longer, I think there is a difference already! Counting the days till Spring eh? Those sweets look delicious, you made me crave chocolate now! I hope you have a great weekend Barbara!

  6. I’ve enjoyed those skinny cow products. I really like their ice cream sandwiches. I’ll have to look out for these. Our kids enjoy those Catan games. It’s fun to listen to them while they play. Fun to see the hopping bunny. Have a great weekend.

  7. Nice corkboard. The controlled portion for the candy is a great idea. I, too, over-indulged during the holidays and need to get back on track : ( LOVE the bunny! I bought my husband a Gamespy camera last year for Christmas and have gotten some great shots of deer. We know there’s a rabbit as we see his tracks in the snow, but no picture yet. Still hoping!

  8. A memo board what an excellent idea ! I would need one too, I always forget things, but probably I would also forget to look on the board, lol !
The bunny is so cute although the picture is a little blurr, but it’s nice to have one in your garden !

  9. That dry erase board is cute–I don’t think I’ve ever seen that particular style before. I got a corkboard and pushpins recently too–but mine is intended to someday make a jewelry organizer for my overflowing collection. (My sister sells jewelry, and I ran out of space on the nifty jewelry tree I’d bought when she first started selling it. Now it’s time for something new.)
