Late to the party this morning, but here are a few favorites from the past week.

1. Getting Jesse’s truck back. I think I mentioned that Jesse had a minor accident back in December. There wasn’t really that much damage to his car, but the shop had it for five weeks — and they’re still not done because they didn’t have all the parts they needed. But it is drivable and they’re supposed to call us when they get in what they need. He has an early class MWF, so I am very glad to let him take himself there once again rather than Mom taking him. 🙂 Plus, even though I try to be home when he is, it’s nice not to have the pressure of watching the clock while running errands to get to school in time to pick him up.

2. An impromptu date with hubby at Ruby Tuesday’s last Friday. For some reason we don’t go there often, but I really like their grilled green beans — and their white cheddar mashed potatoes and BBQ ribs weren’t bad, either!

3. An unexpected gesture. My husband was fixing a leak in the toilet valve last Saturday and somehow went from that to scrubbing out tubs and showers in two bathrooms. Very nice!

4. An unfulfilled weather prediction. Very bad storms and tornado warnings were forecast for last Wed. evening, so severe that prayer meeting was cancelled, but our area only got a bit of rain. We have a similar forecast for this evening — and I am hoping for a similar outcome.

5. These:

They caught my eye in the store the other day and looked very much like a cookie I really liked as a child, though I have never heard of this brand. Oh, man — so good. The only problem now is going to be avoiding the temptation to buy them very time I go to that store.

Happy Friday!

  1. it sounds like a good week for you. I’m glad your son got his vehicle back. I don’t like being pressured to get back home at certain times, either. Unfortunately, time crunching still often happens to me …

I love Ruby Tuesday’s salad bar … I haven’t been there in awhile. Now I’m thinking about their apple and grape salad ….

I’m always very happy when someone cleans something without being asked!

  2. wow..a husband who cleans bathrooms!! i need one of those! lol….those cookies look downright decadent…YUMMY!! and we love ruby tuesdays too….i love those cheddar mashed potatoes! have a relaxing weekend

  3. Anytime your husband comes this way, make sure and tell him we have a bathroom that needs cleaning too! Only one.
We’ll be praying for safety during the storms. I’m watching them on Fox.

  4. Ugh. Five weeks is a loooong time without wheels. Good thing he’s got a great mom to step in and help! What a blessing your husband’s been this week — those are faves indeed.

  5. Yummm – chocolate creme cookies bring back delicious memories for me too. That would be hard to resist in the store and esp at home.

Glad to hear that severe weather hasn’t been an issue for you. And glad to hear about your bathrooms. What a servant your husband is. 🙂 That reminds me I need to do some caulking and cleaning in my bathroom.

I’ve never had white cheddar mashed potatoes. Sounds like delish comfort food and I would like to eat a bowlful right NOW!

  6. Glad to hear the first storm passed you by and praying this one did too.

We don’t have Ruby Tuesday’s here but I’ve heard they are good. My mouth is watering from your dinner choice! Nice to have an unexpected date.

Being without a vehicle is hard. Glad Jessie got his back and hopefully those parts won’t be too much longer.

  7. It’s a good thing your son has his truck back. I bet it saves you a lot of time! What a sweet husband you have!
White cheddar mashed potatoes sounds yummie, and those cookies look to die for! I hope you’re having a great weekend Barbara!
