Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, in which we can share five of our favorite things from the last week, a wonderful exercise in looking for and appreciating the good things God blesses us with. It has been kind of a different week for me! But every week has its good spots, and here are five from mine:

1. A Ladies’ Party at church to welcome new ladies. I even won a door prize — a gift card to Target!

2. Closet changeover from winter to spring/summer clothes. I love the lighter look, plus some of my favorite clothes are in there.

3. A short lull between busy weeks.

4. Not running out of gas. I was running errands Tuesday and knew my gas was low starting out, but was late getting started and didn’t want to take time to fill up first. I figured I’d have enough to get where I was going and could fill up when I got done before heading home. And I would have…except for hitting a detour and then trying to figure out another way to get where I needed to be. In the fluster of all that I forgot about the gas until I got to my destination, then I noticed my “distance to empty” sign said 7 miles. When I got done with my errand I tried to look up a gas station on my GPS, and when I followed its directions, I ended up at a place that was not a gas station and my DTE was 2 miles — and it has a wider margin of error than that amount! I was in an unfamiliar area except for one street that I had passed that I knew had stores and restaurants, so I figured it had to have a gas station somewhere. It took a while to find one but I finally did, and was so relieved. That’s much closer than I like to call it.

5. Getting my newest cross stitch project back from being framed.

I’m wishing now I had opted for more contrast in color between the mat and frame, but overall I like it.

I hope you’ve been able to find bright spots in your week as well!

  1. oh what a pretty crossstitch!! i just love it!! And thank the Lord you didn’t run outta gas!! yay for winning gift cards…that’s one of my fave stores…always good deals in there! 🙂 I, too, changed over some of our closets….always a good feeling to get those thick sweaters packed away! 🙂 Have a happy Easter weekend!!

  2. I hate leaving fill-ups to the last minute like that, though my hubby does it all the time. Drives me batty! LOL Glad you made it though! Have a great week.

PS – Love the cross-stitch. Haven’t done a project in a while, but I love doing it.

  3. A gift card to Target is always good! Have fun spending it.

I loved the warmer weather we had at the first of the week; I’m ready to switch clothes too. But now it’s cold again today. Oh well. It’s that time of year to go back and forth.

I love your cross-stitch project. Beautiful!

Praying you have a blessed Easter weekend.

  4. Sounds like a nice week. The church party sounds nice, and yay for winning a gift card! I LOVE gift cards! I haven’t changed my closets yet as it is still too cold here. But soon I hope!! Love your cross-stitch. I am working on one too, although I have been working on it for a couple of years now! I’m not too good at crafts, but someone gave me this and I am determined to finish it!

    Have a wonderful Easter!

  5. I love your latest cross stitch project!! I’m enjoying springy-er clothes, too, even though the weather doesn’t change here in S FL. I’m used to that changeover from living in colder climes.

    Have a blessed Easter, Barb.

  6. What a beautiful cross stitch. I really rather like the way you chose to frame it. It’s fun seeing your completed project.

I had my own “Running on E” scare today and cut it much closer than I rather cared for while traveling on the highway coming back from dropping my friend off at the airport. It was a fun week though!

Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

  7. A pretty cross stitch project!

I’ve had some close calls with gas tanks running low too – no fun! So glad it turned out well for you.

I’ve only pulled out a few of my spring clothes so far – I have to have 2 wardrobes this time of year – sunny and nice this morning – snow tonight!

    Happy Easter!

  8. Sounds like a good week, including not running out of gas! God is good in big stuff and little. Happy Easter to you and your family. I’m glad we serve a Risen Savior!

  9. Your framing and matting set off the cross stitch very nicely. So pleased you made it to your destination without running out of gas! I smiled thinking about your closet changeovers. In Southern California, we can have warm weather in December. So the “summery” clothes are never too far away 😉

I love hearing from you. I've had to turn on comment moderation. Comments will appear here after I see and approve them.
