This is from Elisabeth’s book, A Lamp For My Feet:
The face of Jesus:
marred more than any man–
spit upon,
slapped,
thorn-pierced,
bloodied,
sweating,
the beard plucked,
twisted in pain–
For my salvation.
A glorious face, now.
Let its light shine on me, O Light of Life.
Let Your radiance fall on me, Sun and Savior,
Lighten my darkness.
Then grant me this by Your grace:
That I, in turn, may give
“The light of the knowledge of the glory of God” (2 Cor 4:6 AV)
As I see it in the face of Jesus Christ.

Beautiful post! I long to see Him face to face some day.
So important to remember to seek His face every day! Thanks for sharing!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus…look FULL in his wonderful face!
Beautiful –or as Glennon says, Brutiful– Truth!
I love this … “That I, in turn, may give “The light of the knowledge of the glory of God” (2 Cor 4:6 AV) As I see it in the face of Jesus Christ.”
Such a beautiful message with so few words. And this: “That I, in turn, may give
“The light of the knowledge of the glory of God” (2 Cor 4:6 AV)
As I see it in the face of Jesus Christ.”
I just want to say I have enjoyed your Elisabeth Elliot posts though I have gotten so behind in blog reading and haven’t been commenting.
Love connecting with the words of this awesome lady! Thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful quote – and what a beautiful reality that God grants us both to see and to reflect His beauty. I think I’ve probably said before that Romans 8:29-30 is my favorite Scripture – because it’s so wonderful that the “good” that God works all things out for is that those who are His would be conformed to the image of Christ. Is there any greater personal good than that we should become like Christ? I think not.
