Friday’s Fave Five

(For those looking for today’s 31 Days With Elisabeth Elliot post, it is just below this one.)

It’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and other friends.

This week had a share of frustrations, but those are the weeks when it’s especially helpful to stop and count the blessings. Here are some of the best parts:

1. Timothy walking. He’s been on the verge of it for some time, but suddenly this week he just took off.

2. A bridal shower. Always fun, and this one came at a time when I really needed to get out of the house for a bit and enjoy being with some other ladies.

3. Fall color has finally come more fully this week. I’m afraid the rain we’ve had this week has knocked leaves off a little earlier than usual, but there’s still a lot of autumn color around to enjoy.

4. Oven meals. I usually wait til it’s a little cooler to make meals that take an hour or so in the oven (I don’t dare in the summer – the AC would never catch up), but decided it was cool enough this week. It’s nice to pull some recipes out of the repertoire that we haven’t had in a while.

5. Impromptu potluck. Jason and Mittu needed something they had left over here, and offered to bring the dinner they had in a crockpot to share. I already had dinner in the oven, but we decided to pool our resources and enjoy each other’s food. 🙂

Have a great weekend! Don’t forget to turn your clocks back Saturday night!

  1. Awww…Timothy is walking! How exciting! Life will never be the same. 🙂 And I am always blessed to hear how thoughtful your son and daughter-in-law are when it comes to sharing meals with you and your hubby. Truly a blessing.

We’ve had some rain over the last several days and a lot of the leaves have dropped as a result of that…and the high winds we’ve had along with it. My Burning Bush is almost leafless now, but the leaves that are hanging on are gorgeous!

    Have a great weekend, Barbara!

  2. I could have used an impromptu potluck this week. Seems like some weeks I have no trouble keeping the frig full of food for these guys and me; other weeks we are “running on empty” all week. This was an empty week. And I have no great inspirations for next week either!!

Nice to hear the little one is walking. Check out my FFF for an adorable pic of another little one about the same age. 🙂

  3. How awesome that your Jason and MIttu live close enough to have an impromptu potluck. How fun that Timothy is a walker now. It is so cute to see them progress through their stages and ages. I think the same about bridal and baby showers. Not only is it time to celebrate the one person, it is a time to visit with one another. Whew! You made it through the 31 days of writing. I have today’s post still to write.

  4. Look out world! You shall be running now keeping up with Timothy!! Such a fun age. I love how close a family you are with your son and Mittu. I love showers just for that very fact…getting out with other women and enjoying some time and friendship and of course getting to bless someone.

  5. And thanks for the reminder about clocks. I’d already forgotten with vacation and an extra day at home — I’d started to lose track! How fun that little Timothy is walking — there goes about 28% of everyone’s free time 😉 So good that you could find blessings in an otherwise difficult week.

  6. Our little PAL is sooo close to walking. She takes lots of steps–they are so cute, aren’t they? What a blessing for you to watch Timothy learning to walk!
Yay for potluck meals–the best with family!

I love hearing from you. I've had to turn on comment moderation. Comments will appear here after I see and approve them.
