Friday’s Fave Five

FFF delicate leaves

It’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and other friends.

I can’t believe we’re almost halfway through October already! We’ve had lovely fall weather this week: 40s or 50s at night, 70s during the day. I don’t think we got above 80 degrees all week. Here are some highlights of the last week or so:

1. Pumpkin decorating night. I wrote more about it here, but we enjoyed having the family together to paint or carve pumpkins and eat goodies.

2. Ready-made slow cooker meals. I found at W-Mart some prepared, just dump in the crockpot meals in the freezer section. Great for when you know you have a busy day ahead.

3. Getting some mending done. Items needing mending tend to sit there for…much longer than I care to admit. I didn’t get as far as I wanted to, but getting started propels the momentum to get finished.

4. Fall decorations. I hadn’t been feeling very autumnal, but decided that preparation for our pumpkin decorating night should probably include some fall decorating. I’m glad I have them out now. I love my everyday “stuff,” but it’s nice to change things around for the season.

5. A rainbow. While bringing dishes to the counter after dinner one night, I noticed part of a rainbow through the kitchen window. My husband and I went outside to look and saw the rest of it arcing to the right. And it hadn’t even been raining!

Bonus: There was an Amber Alert in our area this week, but the child was recovered and the suspect arrested pretty quickly.

Happy Friday!

  1. I think you did okay with the fall decorations! Very nice. I’ve been using my crock pot a lot lately. Very handy. Have a great day.

  2. I enjoyed looking at your autumnal decor! I love the white pumpkins, too although this year I have a mix of orange and white. Love autumn here in the Northeast!!

Yay for getting mending done. I have an Adirondack Challenge patch to sew on that is still sitting on my desk…..hopefully it won’t take as long to sew it onto my jacket as it did to complete the hikes!! 🙂

Enjoy your weekend and praise God the kidnapper was arrested and the little girl safe!!!!

  3. I hear what you are saying about mending, Barbara! 😉 I am the same way.

Love all of your fall decorations…especially at the kitchen window.

Glad you had a good week!

  4. I don’t feel like autumn either, so I haven’t done anything as decoration, I even think I won’t do nothing and wait for Christmas decoration, lol ! Anyway it’s not so much the use here to decorate the house for autumn with pumpkins.

  5. It hasn’t felt very autumn-like here either. We are expected low 80s the next 2 days — very unusual here for mid-October! I need to look for the crockpot meals. Love simple “home cooked” ideas! Those white pumpkins are so popular now. I’ve seen them various places. Have a wonderful week ahead!

  6. Lovely decorations, Barbara. I like the white pumpkin especially (having a hard time not buying them whenever I see them). You’ve reminded me to drag out the mending pile and attend to it!

  7. I’m the same with mending and ironing . . . it feels good when it’s finally done.

I love your fall decor.I have a few pumpkins with candles but need to get some more.

Glad that kidnapper was apprehended -scary business!

  8. That was GREAT news about the amber alert. Such a scary time for the child and family.

I still haven’t retrieved my fall decorations hidden away in tubs. Yours looked so happy, I am feeling inspired to go get them.

Great way to create family memories by having a pumpkin decorating night even with the grownups. It was sweet that your hubby fixed your broken heart.

I decorated pumpkins with my 3.5 year old grand daughter and her great aunt on Saturday. We used paint and glued on paper bits. I didn’t take any photos. Hopefully mama will do that before the next FFF. I didn’t even think of having pumpkin pie for dessert. We will do that next year.

    Have a great week.

I love hearing from you. I've had to turn on comment moderation. Comments will appear here after I see and approve them.
