Friday’s Fave Five

It’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week
with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and other friends.

Things are uncertain now with the corona virus. But I am hoping that all the measures being taken will reduce the spread. I’ve heard it will die out as the weather gets warmer.

Meanwhile, I’m taking a few moments to appreciate the good gifts of the week:

1. My husband’s birthday. Always a joy to celebrate his special day!

2. A new cat—not for us: Jason is allergic to them. My oldest son, Jeremy, has wanted a cat for a while, but his former landlord didn’t allow them. Now that Jeremy is settled into his new condo, he felt the time for a pet adoption was good. I’m enjoying hearing about and seeing pictures of the new family member, Tabitha:

3. Lunch with a friend. We hadn’t seen each other since before Christmas due to illnesses and scheduling conflicts. It was so good to catch up.

4. A trip to Joann’s is like a field trip for me. It’s not that far away, but it’s far enough that I can’t just drop in on a whim like I can Hobby Lobby. After my lunch out, since I was halfway to Joann’s, I decided to head there. I like shopping for home things in the spring because that’s when they have the pinks and blues I love. I found some cute dish towels on sale:

On top of that, I had an old Joann’s gift card that I thought only had a couple of dollars on it had $19!

5. Chocolate pie. I had a craving for chocolate pie, so on my way home from my lunch and Joann’s excursion, I stopped by O’Charley’s and got a slice of their French Silk Pie to take home. Getting home, relaxing with my feet up, and enjoying pie and coffee was a lovely way the end the afternoon.

What’s something good from your week?

  1. Perfect timing on the pie as tomorrow is Pi day! ( yes i have two math geeks living here). Yummy!! My plan is to make a caramel apple pie tomorrow.

I’m also allergic to cats so i know when my oldest can finally afford her own apt she’s gonna be wanting to adopt a kitty. She loves cats!

those dish towels are so sweet!! I just love them especially the one with the bike!!

I love catching up with good friends and glad you were able to, i also wrote about that!
Happy belated birthday to your husband!! The cake looks delish!!

    Happy weekend.

  2. Happy birthday to your husband, and Tabitha is so sweet! Adopting a new pet is always exciting. I love the excitement too of little things like discovering unexpected money on a gift card. Something good this week? Hmm … my youngest daughter comes home from college today, originally for spring break, but now I am guessing for good due to CoronaCrisis 2020. Love having her home!

  3. I can’t believe it is Friday again, I swear I just read you last post! 🙂 A very Happy Birthday to your beloved……..may his birthday month bring him extra smiles.
And congratulations on the newest member of your family………rescue babies are the best! 🙂

  4. I enjoyed hearing about the blessings of your week, Barbara. It sounds as if your luncheon date was enjoyable, not to mention the side trips you made. I love the dishtowels you chose! Wasn’t it just an extra special treat to be checking out and find out that you had $19 on the gift card rather than just a few! Love it when it happens that way. 🙂 A belated Happy Birthday to your husband.

  5. Sounds like you had an enjoyable week. Birthday celebrations, lunch out, and unexpected gift card cash – yay! Enjoy!

  6. Happy Birthday to your husband! I love those new dish towels – so springy! Chocolate pie is my personal Favorite dessert. You had a good week with lots of positives. Enjoy the weekend!

  7. Oooh, that looks like a Boston Cream Cake for husband’s birthday! Looks like it was a happy celebration. Tabitha looks like a sweet cat. I should send you some of the cat toys I have filling up my house — some have never even been played with. Love those little bird towels. A relaxing dessert for one sounds just lovely. Sigh.

  8. Probably by now you have the same instructions against the Corona Virus as we have. The most ridiculous is that rush on Toilet paper in the whole world ! Not only here but everywhere !
Restaurants and cafes are closed and everthing is cancelled. Poor Mr. G. doesn’t have his formular 1 ! We still have visitors with our agent for the house, Asbestos if everywhere in the old buildings and in my house it’s just a little tube outside which doesn’t bother anybody. Asbestos becomeds only dangerous when you break it and breath the dust. Anyway now with this Virus and closed offices I don’t know how long it will last anyway we are not in a hurry.

  9. Happy Birthday to your hubby! I think March birthdays are the best 🙂
Your day out was timed perfectly since now we aren’t going out to restaurants. Some places will do take out and we plan to get that a few times to help out our favorite places.
    Be safe and well!

  10. Happy belated birthday to your hubby! Tabitha is a lovely cat! Cute kitchen towels. I love the bird and the bike one. And now you have me craving chocolate pie!
