Friday’s Fave Five

Time just keeps ticking away. Funny how it always does so at the same rate, but feels fast or slow. I’m thankful Susanne at Living to Tell the Story started this tradition of pausing for just a bit on Fridays to think through the blessings of the last week. If we don’t deliberately look for them, we too often miss or forget them.

Here are a few of my favorite moments of the last week.

1. The radio interview I mentioned last week went well despite scaring me by starting off with some technical glitches. Thankfully everything suddenly started working right (thank you, Lord!), and the interview was able to continue. Here’s a link to the interview, recorded by my oldest son.

2. A visit. Mittu texted one night that Timothy said he “really needed to see Gran and Grams,” so they asked of they could come over and bring chicken fried rice and banana bread. Well, of course! The banana bread was more like banana cake, with chocolate chips and a glaze on top. So good! Then another night they brought some gourmet popcorn and flavoring.

3. Indulgences. Jim has been very nice to acquiesce to my requests for takeout when I’ve been busy, tired, or very hot.

4. Sweet gestures. When Jim came in from the yard one day, he brought one of these little flowers because the darker pink looked like a heart, and I like heart-shaped things. I put it on my desk these week, and have enjoyed marveling at how detailed it is.

5. Relief. I’ve had some kind of weird off and on headache this week. At first I thought it felt like a sinus infection, but it hasn’t been behaving like one. It’s lessening a little each day, but still fades in and out a little.

How about you? Have you had highlights in your week?

  1. That banana bread sounds wonderful! I hope your headache is gone. I’ve had a lot of pressure in my sinuses the last couple of days that causes my head to hurt. Your interview went very well. You did a good job. I’d be tongue-tied if it was me. The flower is so pretty. What a nice surprise!

  2. That little flower is just beautiful! And I’m hungry now thinking about the banana cake/bread 🙂 I enjoyed lunch with one friend this week, coffee/tea with another, and biking with a third. Friends are such a blessing!

  3. I so enjoyed listening to the interview through the link your son recorded. Thank you for putting that up earlier in the week!

Don’t you just love it when the grands “need” to see the grandparents? Our Josh was like that, too. And I can remember one time when our son’s family from Maine came to visit and our oldest granddaughter (who was about 10 at the time) ran to me upon their arrival and gave me a huge hug, saying, “Grandma, I didn’t know if I was ever going to see you again!”

Loved the fact that Jim brought in the pink flower to you because of the darker shade in the middle looking like a heart! It’s those little things in a marriage that make and keep it strong, isn’t it?

Glad the Lord blessed you with such a wonderful week!

  4. That verbena is super sweet. I don’t think I’ve seen dual colored petals like that.
Wonderful news on your interview went well and technical issues were overcome!
I love those kinds of visits! Food and family.

  5. oh I will listen to the interview after I complete this comment and while I chop veggies for a pasta salad for dinner later. I’m glad your son recorded it!

I will pray for your headache to dissipate. I know you’ve prayed for mine all spring. JUST yesterday and today i woke up with the sinus headache and just a LITTLE congestion and then most of the day the headache has been gone! it’s kind of hovering right now but nothing like the pain i’ve had for the last 3.5 months. I’m giving God the glory for this. Believing with you that He will take yours away.
i love take out on nights when I’m tired or just don’t feel like cooking in the heat.
YAY for Timmy’s wanting to spend time with you and that banana bread sounds like what we often make!!

  6. The flower is exquisite! How sweet that Timothy asked to come see you. I did a radio interview years ago and it was terrifying! I admire you for continuing to do them, I’m sure you’re very good at it.

  7. I love the flower. Your husband sounds very kind and considerate. I hope to get a few minutes to listen to your interview. So glad you got to spend some time with Timothy. Hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!

  8. I love it when the grands say, “We NEED to see Meema and Bapa”.
And yay for take away dinners sometimes.
That two toned pink flower is lovely. I saw that nikkipolani says it is a verbena. I’ll have to check on that.
I’m glad all the technical glitches were solved for your interview.
I’ve been have headaches too and wondering if it is allergy related; hope you feel better soon.
    Have a good weekend!

  9. Glad your interview went great. I’ll listen when I can. How sweet that your hubby thought of you when he saw the little heart shape within the flower. The love Timothy has for you guys is pretty special. Praying your headache goes away this weekend.

I love hearing from you. I've had to turn on comment moderation. Comments will appear here after I see and approve them.
