I’m sharing this week’s blessings with Susanne and friends at Living to Tell the Story.
1. Cardioversion. Last week I shared that I had been in atrial flutter since July 16, but the cardioversion to correct it wasn’t until Aug. 22. I woke up in atrial fibrillation Saturday, which continued to Tuesday. I called the cardiologist’s office Monday, but they said there was nothing else they could do medicinally, and I could go to the ER if I wanted to. So I did on Tuesday. They did the cardioversion there. It feels very good to have a heart rate in the 50-60 beats per minute range rather than the 90-140 range. My heart is still a little erratic, but hopefully will settle down soon.
2. Good ER staff. The main ER doctor was very helpful and gave clear yet succinct details of what was going on, what the cardioversion involved, etc. Our nurse was really sweet.
3. Texts from Timothy. He texted Wednesday to ask how my heart was and then to ask if he could come over Thursday and make me lunch.
4. Lunch and flowers. Jason, Mittu, and Timothy did come Thursday. Timothy (and Mittu) made lunch. They brought some lovely pink roses, and we visited for a couple of hours.
5. Phone calls done. I had a whole list of phone calls to make to schedule and reschedule various things. I tend to put that kind of thing off until I can’t any more. I got them all done one afternoon. All but one of them involved leaving a message for the other person to call me back. So they’re not totally taken care of yet–but at least the ball is in someone else’s court for the moment.
Bonus: Free produce. A neighbor gave us some of their yellow squash abundance.
That was my week–how was yours?

Praying for you. Hope you can rest and enjoy the day.
Well, that’s one way to get the cardioversion done sooner! Oh my, I’m sorry for the stress that put you through, and glad (though amazed) it could be done at the ER (just makes me wonder why they couldn’t have done it earlier to avoid that?! Ugh with a lot of our medical system here π¦ ). I’m glad it’s behind you and that others were so sweet to you with visits, lunch, etc. Continuing to pray for your heart to stay in that nice lower range. I always really appreciate others’ bounty of produce too. Enjoy the squash!
We were in the ER maybe four hours altogether, and I thought, why does it take weeks for this to be done as an outpatient? I guess a lot of it is scheduling–the operating room, anesthesiologist, etc. It’s amazing, too, that so many people have these kinds of issues that it takes weeks to get appointments to fix them.
I will continue to pray for you Barbara. I’m glad you made the decision to go to the ER.
How thoughtful your grandson is to come over and with mom’s help make you a lunch.
I tend to put off those kinds of phone calls too. In fact, I need to call a place today that I keep putting off.
I hope you continue to heal well and that you have a nice weekend.
Barbara, I am so very thankful that things worked out for you to have the cardioversion when you went to the ER. What a blessing that the staff was kind and helpful.
I thought about you yesterday around lunch time, knowing that Timothy had requested to make lunch for you. It sounded like such a fun thing to experience, and now I read here how much you enjoyed it. You have such a sweet family, my friend.
Doesn’t it feel wonderful to have things like phone calls made off your to-do list? Those are my least favorite things to do. π
Have a wonderful weekend.
It’s a little crazy that you had to get into the ER to get the procedure done. So glad it has resolved your atrial flutter and with helpful ER staff, too.
That Timothy is so sweet. How lovely that the family came to bring you a bit of cheer.
Well I’m glad you got the heart problem sorted but sorry you had to resort to going to the ER. Never the best place to be. I hope you’re feeling much better now though. How thoughtful of Timothy to want to prepare lunch. Have a good weekend.
I am so relieved to know that the cardioversion is done. So sweet of Timothy to come fix lunch! Your family is so supportive and there for you all the time.
I know you have a lot of things pending medically but it will all fall into place.
I’m sorry you’ve been having medical issues but I’m glad you got the cardioversion done and that you are feeling better. That was lovely of Timothy to come and make you lunch. And well done on tackling the tasks you’ve been putting off. I can have a tendency to procrastinate and let things build up too.
Hi Barbara, I am back for the 3rd time. I reset my password for WP. I never use it since I use Blogger. Anyway, I am glad you made it to the ER to get your heartbeat reset. I hope you take at easy and get a follow up appointment. I have a great weekend!
I’m sorry you ended up at the ER, but also glad that you were able to get your procedure done there instead of having to wait until August 22. I have been waiting for an appointment with a kidney specialist for three months – I called in May to make the appointment and the first opening they had was August 27. I really dislike that, but hopefully it won’t matter that it took so long to see a doctor. At least I’m not having any discomfort; just need answers for some suspicious test numbers.
Oh, I am glad you were able to get the cardioversion done this week. Scary, but now it’s over and you can move forward and heal.
How sweet (as always) for Timothy to check in on you and provide lunch and conversation as you rested and healed.
All those phone calls–yes, now it’s their turn…
I’m sorry you were experiencing the atrial fibrillation. I’m glad you did decide to go to ER and they were able to do the procedure there instead of waiting until Aug 22. I have to have an MRI and my appointment is next August! I put myself on the cancellation list so hopefully I can get that moved up. Glad you had a good doctor and nurse. Timothy is so sweet. What a blessing your family is to rally around you.
