Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

Rain or shine, hot or cold, we take time to recount the good things God places in our lives with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story.

1. Valentine’s Day. For the last several years, Valentine’s Day has been a family-based day for us. I’m thankful our children still like to come for Valentine’s Day even though they are grown. I make “meat hearts” and chocolate heart-shaped cupcakes. We exchange cards. Jim gets Mittu and me flowers. He gets me a bag of my favorite Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles.

2 Timothy’s Valentine’s to Jim and me.

3. Quick power restoration. We were watching the Olympics one evening when the power suddenly went out unexpectedly. There were no weather conditions that would have caused it. We quickly ascertained that the whole neighborhood was without power. Just about the time we got lanterns out and batteries changed and Jim had started the generator in the camper, power came back on. Someone said nearby construction caused the outage. I’m thanlful it didn’t last long.

4. Flatbread. We’ve been using these as a base for individual pizzas in the air fryer. Quick, convenient, and tasty!

5. Nice temperatures. We’ve had a nice respite from the cold this week, with moderate temperatures in the forecast. We were supposed to get up to 70 one day! But winter isn’t over yet, and we’ll be in the 20s again next week.

How was your week?

  1. A whole family Valentines hasn’t happened for us since the girls graduated from college but only because the youngest who is an optemetric tech has to work Saturdays and our oldest now has a boyfriend so….BUT I still gifted them with cards and gift cards to their fave stores. and they texted me or called me. I love that you had your whole family involved. and those are precious cards from Timothy.

YAY for a short power outage and for yummy personal pizzas.

I hope you are feeling better after your heart issue you menioned last time.

happy weekend…as I type this on Friday around 11:30 we are getting big fat snowflakes falling fast and furious here in eastern NY. Sigh. Winter is still here.

  2. I love your Valentine’s traditions; how nice that it’s a family affair! The notes from Timothy are sweet–keepers for sure 🙂

The flatbreads pizzas sound good. I guess I do something like that with my Joseph Lavash bases. Added benefit for me: they’re low-carb.

I had a good week but a callback for additional mammogram pictures Monday 😦 It’s (thankfully) the first time I have dealt with that, so prayers are appreciated!

    • It can be scary to be called back after a mammogram. I didn’t have that situation, but once I was immediately sent for an ultrasound after a mammogram. Thankfully, everything was ok. I hope it will be for you, too.

      • Thank you! It’s behind me now and went fine; they just redid the mammo and a radiologist was there to immediately see that it was fine without need for ultrasound. I was very nervous in the interim though; I so wish I could get to the point spiritually where I wouldn’t be so anxious about these type things–although I am comforted to think that ever Jesus in Gethsemane seemed pretty distraught.

  3. What a nice week you have had, Barbara. I especially like Timothy’s card to his grandpa. 🙂 So cute!

I’m glad your power wasn’t off for an extended amount of time. And happy to hear that you’ve had a break in the weather. We have too, but today it is quite windy, getting us ready for the big snow that is supposed to be on its way to us Saturday night and Sunday.

I hope you will enjoy the weekend.

  4. I love your family Valentine’s Day, and especially homemade Valentines. So special.

I wrote about flat bread pizza in my faves today, too! We do like to make our own, but never thought about putting it in the air fryer. I’ll have to try that.

The weather has been crazy all over the country. For our part, we’ve hardly seen winter.

    • The flatbread pizzas could easily be done in the oven. Maybe even the microwave, though they’d be less crisp there. The air fryer was nice because it was just the right size, took less time to preheat, and didn’t require the whole oven be heated up. The first time, I used the regular pan that came with the air fryer. That was ok, but the next time I used the basket–that made the crust much better.

  5. Lindor chocolates are my favourite but they have become soooo expensive here that I don’t get them very often. Glad the power outage didn’t last long and you have a back up in place when you need it. Sounds like you had a good Valentine’s Day. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

  6. The weather seems to be having crazy ups and downs everywhere this year. Glad you were able to enjoy some warmth before another plunge into some cold. I like Lindor’s too. Lately I’ve really like the pistachio ones when I can get ahold of them. Glad the power outage didn’t last long. That is not fun in winter. Love the family valentine’s and sweet card from Timothy.
