Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

It’s been a busy week! I’m thankful there’s nothing on the agenda for Friday and Saturday. There are always things to be done, and I hope to get to some of them. But we have a little more breathing room now.

I’m joining with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to share some of the week’s blessings.

1. My dear husband’s birthday. The local kids came over and we Facetimed with Jeremy.

Jim birthday

2. Our nephew-in-law’s memorial service. We’re sorry that he is gone so soon, and we ache for his family. But we were thankful his service was live-streamed. His wife (our niece) and children all spoke–I was amazed they were able to. I don’t know if I could. I enjoyed seeing their different personalities come out in their reflections. It was good to hear testimonies from others as well. It’s amazing how many lives one person can touch.

3. An impromptu dinner out. We had some errands to run Wednesday afternoon. As we finished up, we began to talk about eating out somewhere and decided to text and see if the kids were free to join us. Jesse had other plans, but Jason, Mittu, and Timothy met us at a local Mexican food restaurant.

4. Healing. I had a follow-up visit with the doctor to check on the cellulitis on my leg. It looks much better, though it’s not entirely healed. But he didn’t prescribe any more antibiotics (Yay!) and didn’t schedule me to come in again–he just said to call if it starts to look worse. That was the outcome I was hoping for.

5. Budding trees and bushes. More signs of spring! The whole area is full of fluffy white trees–Bradford pears, I think. And though I am not generally fond of yellow, the forsythia bushes in the neighborhood are a cheerful sight.

Our weather forecast is predicting that winter will have another fling next week, hopefully the last one. We’ve had both the heater and AC on this week. But I am happy we can switch between them at the push of a button.

How was your week?

Sorry to hear about your niece’s husband……that is hard.

I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend.

  2. Your nephew-in-law’s service being live streamed is another reason to be thankful for technology. Happy Birthday to your hubby! What a joy to live close enough to family that you can text and get together for an impromptu dinner together! And signs of spring. Much to be grateful for.

  3. I’m loving the pretty signs of spring all around – even if we have a couple cold days coming.

Jim’s cake is very cute! Happy Birthday to him! I’m glad you were able to get most of the family together for it.

I’m glad to hear that the cellulitis is improving. And no more antibiotics! That’s great.

I’m glad you were able to attend family member’s funeral by live stream. That is such a blessing for those not able to attend personally.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Happy birthday to Jim, his cake is so cute and reminding me of cards you might make! I agree with being amazed when family members can speak at a funeral. I have no wish to do that! Praising God with you for an end to cellulitis!!! I envy your spring signs. I am ready up here!

  5. What a fun birthday cake for your husband! Happy birthday to Jim!

I’m sorry about the loss in your family. It’s a gift to have composure to speak at such an emotional time. It’s good you could watch it and enter into the moment.

Oh, I do hope the cellulitis heals all the way soon.

We’d gladly take a bit of that winter fling. I feel like we’ve jumped right into July with our 90F temperatures.

  6. Belated birthday wished to your husband. I’m glad your leg is improving and hope it’s soon fully healed. Being able to live stream things like church services and funerals is one good thing to come out of the pandemic. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

  7. Happy Birthday to Jim!

I love the impromptu dinners. Isn’t it wonderful living near your family?

I’m sorry to hear about your niece’s husband. Livestreaming does help with keeping people connected.

I am excitedly waiting for our forsythias to bloom here. Hopefully, this week!

  8. Happy belated birthday to Jim. That’s a fun cake and plates. Fun that you had an impomtu dinner and at a Mexican restaurant. Yum! Glad you were able to join the funeral through livestream. Nothing blooming here yet.
